January 13, 2025
As always, please feel free to reach out if there's anything we can do to support you or your child. We love our students and are dedicated to working in partnership with our families to ensure the very best for them.
We would like to remind our families that there will be NO SCHOOL this Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. – a truly inspirational leader who championed peace, equality, and justice for all. This day gives us all an opportunity to reflect on his powerful legacy and participate in local celebrations and events. We encourage our families to take part in these activities and spend time honoring Dr. King’s contributions to building a more just and compassionate world.
Wishing you all a meaningful and peaceful Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
As we prepare for a week of extreme cold weather, we want to remind everyone to dress warmly and stay safe. Please ensure that your children are bundled up in layers—hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and warm coats are essential. We’re especially concerned about students wearing shorts, as the cold can be especially harsh during this time. While the buses will be warm, they can still have drafts, so extra warmth is always a good idea. Low wind chills are expected, and a blast of cold air is on its way, so keeping your children properly layered will help them stay comfortable and protected throughout the day. We care deeply about the well-being of all of our students, so please take a moment to check that they’re dressed warmly before they head out the door. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe and cozy!
Gr. 5 students represented us well at the NEW JA BizTown field trip this past week.(gr. 5 families you should be so very proud) The Licking County business community is excited about the opportunities BIZTOWN will provide for local children and the awareness it will bring to area businesses.Thank you to our outstanding volunteers who help make our field trip great, We could not have done it without out you. JA BizTown combines classroom learning with a day in a simulated town at their learning center, teaching financial literacy and work readiness. Fifth-grade students become employees of local, manage local businesses, handle finances, and even participate in a mayoral election. It was an exciting day of learning for everyone. Please ask our fifth graders what they learned and enjoyed. You will be dazzled!!! BTW...the speeches were outstanding!!!
Speaking about standinding....thank you for all the entries for the new 2024-2025 yearbook. We had over one-hundred entries for the cover and artwork throughout. THANK YOU CHILDREN!! We will have a great yearbook that's for sure!! Yearbooks are for sale right now through HR IMAGING. This is the only time to order. Envelopes were sent home last week. The sale runs now through February 7th. RESERVE YOUR YEARBOOK NOW FOR ONLY $16.OO EACH AT book.hrimaging.com Order deadline February 7, 2025. Yearbooks typically arrive in May.
Important reminder: STAY WELL !! There have been several cases of flu (increasing) diagnosed in the school. According to the CDC, influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
Fever* or feeling feverish/chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea
**** It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever
Parent-Teacher Conferences: Let's Connect!
This week (January 23 and 28), we will be hosting our second round of Parent-Teacher conferences, which is the perfect time to check in on your child’s progress as we approach the midpoint of the second semester. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to come together and discuss your child’s growth, strengths, and areas for continued development. If you were unable to attend the last round of conferences, we highly encourage you to make plans to join us this time.We will be contacting you to do so. It is incredibly important that we work together as a team to support your child’s success. We believe in the power of partnership between home and school, and your involvement is key to your child’s learning journey.
Additionally, at conferences, you will receive your child’s Winter I-Ready results, as we are completing these assessments. We will be happy to discuss these results with you during conferences and address any questions or thoughts you may have.if you have not scheduled already, teachers will be reaching out to schedule your conference. We look forward to connecting with you and working together to ensure the very best for your child’s educational experience.
