Strategic Plan Update
Superintendent Dr. Scott Warren provided an overview of the district’s progress on its strategic plan. Each year, the district identifies key tasks to advance its strategic goals. Dr. Warren highlighted these goals and shared updates with the Board.
Goal 1: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving has been integrated with Goal 2: Individualized Learning focusing on inquiry-based learning. This year, staff are focusing more intensely on subject-based inquiry.
Goal 3: Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) aims to develop well-rounded citizens through the ongoing implementation of the state’s SEL standards, which have been in place for several years. Schools will continue to apply and expand these standards through classroom activities.
Goal 4: Infrastructure focuses on creating adaptable learning environments that respond to enrollment trends, human resource needs, and curricular programs. The district continues to make progress in attracting new talent through strategic advertising and participation in job fairs. The facility matrix is regularly updated to ensure buildings and grounds remain well-maintained.
Field Trips
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dr. Katie Reynolds updated the Board on the district’s review of field trips by grade level and their educational value. The committee reaffirmed the importance of field trips in providing hands-on, real-world learning experiences that enrich classroom instruction. The review process, which began over the summer, will be completed this fall.
HVAC Upgrades
The Board approved a $585,000 expenditure for Half Day School's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) upgrades. This expense is part of the district’s ongoing efforts, outlined in the facility matrix, to ensure that buildings and grounds are properly maintained.
Sixth-Day Enrollment
The district’s annual sixth-day enrollment report showed 1,896 students enrolled across the district’s three schools from early childhood through eighth grade.
