The Gift of Time
The holidays provide us with many opportunities to connect or re-connect with people to celebrate the season. Large family gatherings or quiet one-on-one time allow each of us to give the gift of our time. Thoughtful conversations, memorable traditions, storytelling, sharing food, outdoor activities, listening to music, singing, and volunteering are just some of the many ways we come together at the end of a year. This time together can be stressful or overwhelming if you take on too much. Instead, delegate some responsibilities or do less. Give yourself the gift of time by giving yourself permission to slow down this holiday season so you can enjoy quality time with the people you care about and love. Best wishes for a happy, healthy, holiday season.
Meaningful Message
Did you know that we have 12,000 - 60,000 thoughts each day? And...80% of those thoughts are negative? These negative thoughts increase cortisol (stress hormone) and can make it challenging to have a happy, productive day. The good news is you can decrease the number of negative thoughts by writing your daily "wins" in a journal each evening before you go to sleep. Simply list the "goods" in your day, what moved you closer to your goals, and your intentions moving forward. Ending the day on a positive note will help you start your day the same way. For me, one of my wins is spending quality time with the people I care about and love. My quality time includes stepping away from technology and screens and instead engaging in meaningful conversations, playing board games, sharing stories that make us laugh, and enjoying a quiet meal together. To help families increase their positive thoughts, we developed a list of birthday and holiday gift ideas for you to share that support physical activity year-round. We hope it's helpful for you and your families.
