Are you interested in improving your English skills?

Sign up today for an English Class (ESL NC111) taught by East Los Angeles College (ELAC) Faculty. This class is a Beginner Level class. Classes will be offered at either Marguerita Elementary or Ynez Elementary (both schools are very close to Highlands).

• Registration is required. Space is limited.
• No child care will be provided.
• Priority registration for Alhambra USD parents.

Each year, AUSD facilitates administration of the CA School Parent Survey, which is part of the school climate surveys given to students, staff and community members. Historical school climate survey data is available on our website.

Participation in this anonymous and confidential survey is optional and is open to all community members (parents, guardians, caregivers, grandparents, etc...). The survey is available in all major languages.

Individuals completing the survey can contact Ms. Sara Safa in the Front Office to enter a drawing for gift cards from Raising Cane's!

This month’s focus is Honesty. One way to think about Honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing Honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress.

Join us in shaping young minds and broadening horizons. Whether you’re a scientist, artist, entrepreneur, or have a fascinating career journey, we want to hear from you!

Speakers will present to 4 classes for 10-15 minutes each, with 5 minutes reserved for questions. Career Day is targeted for our 3rd-8th grade students.

The Associated Student Body (ASB) oversees all fundraising and school activities at Monterey Highlands. The ASB Cabinet meets most weeks to review activity and fundraising requests.

ASB produces our monthly Wonderful Wednesday virtual assembly. In the month of Februrary, 2nd Grade teaches us how to demonstrate Honesty. Our morning PA messages to start the week will also focus on this theme.

• Our Panoramic Photo has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 2/25 at 9am. This is a high quality, formal photo. Students should dress accordingly and align to dress code expectations.
• 8th Grade Parent Night (MKHS) - Night of the Aztecs is POSTPONED. New date will be shared soon!

Monterey Highlands is always bustling with activity! Here's some of what our students were up to lately!

• Ms. Rose Retires - we bid farewell to our amazing Instructional Aide, Ms. Rose Marie Robles, whose last day was 1/31/25. Ms. Rose leaves AUSD with over 20 years of service. We wish you the best in Hawaii, Ms. Rose!
• PTA Library Refresh - PTA volunteers and Girl Scout Emma Preston worked to install some new updates to the School Library! We now have an Apple TV and media display in the reading nook and an amazing art installation on the bulletin board! Thank you, PTA!!
• Therapicasso Art Night - our first ever collaboration with the student-led nonprofit Therapicasso was a huge success! Families had a great time working on therapeutic arts and craft activities in a fun station format! Thank you to all who attended!

The Apollo Afterschool program publishes a newsletter periodically to update everyone on their fun and exciting programs. Enrollment is open!
