The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
I hope this finds all of our students and families doing well. Hopefully everyone has been able to rest and recharge during this spring break. We're all looking forward to the final quarter of the year, with all the excitement it brings. Right before spring break our Technology Club presented at the Horry County Schools Technology Fair. I was so impressed with the awesome projects and so proud of them as they represented Seaside Elementary in such a wonderful manner. I am so amazed at the talents and hard work of our students at Seaside Elementary. Coming up as we continue to work hard through April, we have state testing for grades 3 and 4 in May. We also have our DIBELS testing for grades K-2 coming up in May. We are excited to see all the wonderful growth our students have made. Let's finish this school year off strong! We are looking forward to welcoming our students back on Monday, April 8, 2024. Enjoy the weekend!Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed.D

Solar Eclipse Information
This information regarding the solar eclipse was shared with parents and guardians from Horry County Schools on March 26, 2024 via email. I wanted to follow up and have that message below. Please see below.
Dear Parents/Guardians:
As you know, Monday, April 8, 2024, is the first day back to school after the HCS spring break. On this day, most of the U.S. will experience a solar eclipse. While the total eclipse will not be visible from Horry County, depending upon the weather, the partial eclipse may be visible from 1:52 pm to 4:25 pm, with the eclipse’s maximum magnitude of .802 occurring at 3:10 pm. For more information about the eclipse, check out NASA’s website: https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/
Persons who choose to view the solar eclipse should take appropriate safety measures. It will not be safe at any point to look directly at the eclipse without proper eye protection. NASA’s eclipse safety page gives the following safety tips:
When watching a partial or annular solar eclipse directly with your eyes, you must look through safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun.
Do NOT look at the Sun through a camera lens, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device while wearing eclipse glasses or using a handheld solar viewer — the concentrated solar rays will burn through the filter and cause serious eye injury.
Horry County Schools will not provide solar eclipse glasses for employees or students. Persons who want to view the eclipse safely must make sure they have the appropriate equipment and follow the safety advice provided by NASA.
We ask that you discuss this information with your children.
Sincerely,
Horry County Schools

👏 Congratulations! 👏
Congratulations to Emma Sabik one of our special education teachers. She was named by the employees at Seaside Elementary The Golden Stingray for the month of March. The Golden Stingray Award highlights employees who possess a high-quality work performance, diligence, and dedication in carrying out their duties and carrying out the mission of Seaside Elementary. The Golden Stingray Award is given out monthly and voted upon by everyone at our school. Ms. Sabik is an extremely hard worker and we are so proud of her. We are very thankful that she is a Seaside Elementary Stingray!
Lost and Found!
Please check your child's backpack!
Seaside Families, I cannot stress this enough. We are seeing a big increase with things that should be staying at home. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys, key chains etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble. Students do not need to bring any sports equipment or balls to school. We have more than enough equipment for students to use. For those who bring water bottles to school, please send in a water bottle with a strong lid. We are seeing lots of spills lately. We thank you in advance for doing this! We really appreciate it!

🦺 Safety 🦺
Traffic Reminder!
For safety purposes I am reminding all of our parents that between the hours of 7-8 A.M. and 2-3 P.M. there is a sign at the end of the road that says to make a right turn on to Highway 17. Please be safe and follow all road signs. Thank you for your help with this.
Safety Drills!
Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.
Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
Morning Car Rider Line!
Please help out with our morning car rider line! The car rider line is empty from 7 till 7:25 A.M. Right at that last 10 to 15 minutes is where everything gets really busy. Please help us out in the morning and come earlier so when the bell hits at 7:40 A.M. all of our students will be in the building. This way our instruction can start on time. I appreciate all of your help with this.
