Countdown to the 24-25 School Year

The first day of the 2024-25 school year, August 20, is rapidly approaching! As we prepare for the year to begin, it’s important that you complete the checklist below so that you and your learner(s) are ready for the year.

PVSD Administration

Each parent/guardian MUST have a Sapphire Community Portal Account. Electronic letters, parent communications, and district notification calls/texts (including weather delays and cancellations) will be distributed using Sapphire.

To create an account, go to sapphire.pequeavalley.org > Click Community Portal > Click Apply for a Sapphire Community Portal Account. (Please note - all parent account applications are reviewed for verification before access is granted. Creation of the account is not instant, so please plan accordingly!)

Update Learner Demographic and Medical Data

If you have changes or updates to your child(ren)’s demographic or medical data throughout the school year, visit the Sapphire Community Portal or contact Heather_Yoder@pequeavalley.org (717-768-5530 x5609).

Pequea Valley classrooms utilize Schoology and ClassDojo for digital learning and communication. These tools enable our learners, parents/guardians, and facilitators to engage with digital learning materials, collaborate with their peers, and communicate with each other.

IN SCHOOLOGY: As a parent, you will be able to view your child’s general activity within the platform. Your child already has login credentials for Schoology. If you would like to see a more detailed view of their assignments and activity, please use their login credentials. You can navigate to Clever and login with their pequeavalley.net email address and corresponding password. Then find the Schoology icon to be directed to their site.

If you have not already done so, you can create a free Schoology parent account. A unique access code is needed to connect your child(ren) to your parent account during the initial setup. Please contact your child's facilitator for that unique access code.

• Go to www.schoology.com, and click Register.
• Click Parent.
• Enter your child's unique access code and click Continue.

IN CLASSDOJO: Elementary parents/guardians can go to classdojo.com to create a free parent account, find your child's school, and connect with their classroom.

Both breakfast and lunch are FREE for all learners this school year. For a meal to be free, it must be a complete meal. A complete meal must contain 3 of the 5 food groups (Dairy, Fruit, Vegetable, Grain or Protein). It must contain 1/2 cup fruit OR vegetable.

Learners who wish to purchase snacks or extras must have funds in their account, or cash on hand.

To add funds to your learner’s meal account:

Online: www.myschoolbucks.com. There is a fee to add funds on My School Bucks.

Check/Cash: Make checks payable to Pequea Valley Food Service Department. Place check/cash in an envelope with learner’s full name, homeroom facilitator, and their school ID#. Please note “for cafeteria” on envelope.

Allergies and Special Diets:
Does your child require a special diet? If so, please contact the Food Service Department at

717-768-5551. A "Medical Plan of Care" form may need to be completed by a doctor. Examples are, but not limited to: Milk allergy, lactose intolerance, gluten allergy, etc.

All PV learners are assigned a device: K-4 iPads, 5-12 MacBook laptops. Technology coverage is highly recommended, and the FIRST incident is covered for FREE (exclusions apply)!

This annual technology fee covers the district’s cost of repairing and/or replacing damaged equipment. Technical and maintenance support for district-issued devices will be provided, as well as loaner devices when needed. *If you choose not to purchase coverage and the device or its accessories are damaged or lost, the parent/guardian is financially responsible for 100% of all repair or replacement costs.*

A paper form to elect coverage will be sent home from your child's school. An invoice for payment and/or a receipt for your payment will be emailed to you from NoReply@1to1plus.com. Payment can be made using the following methods: Cash, check (payable to PVSD), Venmo (search @PequeaValleySD ), or PayPal (search @PVSD19). Please always include the learner’s first and last name and a description of what the payment is for.

Parents/Guardians must login to the BusPlanner Transportation Portal to see bus schedule information. In order to access your child’s bussing information, you will need their Student ID number. This information can be found in the Sapphire Community Portal.

Please direct any requested changes to the Transportation Office by Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Routes are continually being adjusted to meet family needs. Email Dawn_Dixon@pequeavalley.org, Transportation Coordinator, with questions or changes.

At PV, we have a centralized attendance program and use the Sapphire Community Portal for the submission of absence excuses. Following an absence, you have five days to provide a note. To submit an absence note to school, please do one of the following:

• Complete the Absence Excuse Form in the Sapphire Community Portal under Student Data Forms.
• Email pvattendance@pequeavalley.org - please include your child’s name, date(s) of absence, reason for absence, signature (sending note).
• Send in a note with your son/daughter.
