A Message from Ms. Gately
I am thrilled to share some news with our school community. This summer, my family and I will be welcoming our first baby! During my brief absence at the beginning of the school year, there will be support at our school to ensure a smooth transition for our students, staff, and families. While I am looking forward to this special time with my growing family, I want to assure you that I will be back to serving as your Assistant Principal with the same dedication and commitment. Thank you for your understanding during this exciting time.
Gardening Update
Check out what each grade level will begin growing in their own raised garden beds and our greenhouse right here at Stony Point! A huge thank you to all of the volunteers who have made these projects possible, especially Amber Capron and the Piedmont Master Gardeners.
- Kindergarten will be planting marigold seeds to take home for Mother's Day. They will also be planting a pizza garden (tomatoes, onions, basil, oregano, peppers) in their raised bed.
- Ms. Frazier's class will be planting a kitchen garden with peas, lettuce, spinach, kale, carrots, beets, and radishes.
- Second grade will be planting a pizza garden in their raised bed and also planting something in the greenhouse to take home.
- Third grade will be planting sunflowers, zinnias, and cosmos in their raised bed to help attract pollinators.
- Fourth grade will be planting a three sisters garden in their raised bed with glass gem corn, Cherokee Trail of Tears black beans, and white scallop squash (Native American heirlooms). They may also start some greens to make green smoothies.
- Fifth grade is also planting a pizza garden.
Donations Appreciated- Snack Closet

News on Repeat: Yearbook Orders
Yearbook forms have gone home in backpacks, but did you know that you can order online? Visit www.strawbridge.net and use the online code YB29180 to order.
Note: Our PTO has graciously offered to order a yearbook for every fifth grade student as a keepsake that they can have as they depart Stony Point.
News on Repeat: Food Drive
Stony Point Elementary is teaming with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank for the 2024 School Food Drive. Between March 6th-March 22nd bins will be located in the front area to drop off food items. Please help us stock these bins and help provide food resources to our community.
News on Repeat: Open Feedback Form
Your ongoing input is invaluable in our sustained efforts to create the best possible experience for our Stony Point Dragons. We invite you to share your thoughts, ideas, and questions to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our school community. The feedback form will be viewed by the Stony Point Principal and Assistant Principal in order for them to understand what students are enjoying, address any concerns, and implement improvements. Thank you for partnering with us to promote a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for all students.
