Principal's Post
Across the country, more than 8 million students are missing so many days of school that they are academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can translate into third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing subjects and ninth-graders dropping out of high school.
In Bringing Attendance Home, a video from Attendance Works, a variety of parents speak about the importance of school attendance and making sure absences don’t add up. This video offers practical, every day steps parents can take to help their children attend school and highlights ways schools and communities can help reduce barriers to attendance. ROES Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Vensel!
EOG Proctors Needed
Each year, our 3rd through 5th graders participate in state standardized tests called End of Grade (EOGs). In order to run these tests successfully, we require proctors to assist the teachers throughout the testing session.
Please consider volunteering to proctor with our EOGs at the end of the year.
This year, we will have our EOGs on:
- Friday, May 29th (5th Grade Science, 3rd Grade Reading)
- Tuesday, June 2nd (3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Math)
- Wednesday, June 3rd (3rd Grade Read to Achieve)
- Thursday, June 4th (4th and 5th Grade Reading)
