Notes & Reminders
Superintendent Input Survey
The Rye Neck Board of Education has engaged School Leadership, LLC to assist it as it undertakes a search for a new Superintendent of Schools. The Board feels it is important to obtain input from members of the school community as to the qualities that it should seek in a new Superintendent. Your assistance by completing this brief survey online will be greatly appreciated. PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31, 2025. Thank you.

Winter Weather
Every attempt will be made to provide DW students with daily outdoor recess. Appropriate clothing for play is essential. Please be certain that your child(ren) come to school with warm jackets, hats and gloves in cold weather and boots when there is snow on the ground. We believe: Recess provides physical activity that is essential for healthy growth and development. Recess can serve as an outlet for children. Recess activities encourage children to take turns, negotiate, and interact cooperatively, building social skills. When recess is held outdoors on chilly days, the gymnasium will remain open as an alternative play space.
Students will play outdoors daily unless:
- If it's <25 degrees or less during the recess time. (REAL FEEL TEMP) www.weatherbug.com
- If there is a weather advisory
- There is snow/ice/debris in most of the space left from a major storm
- It's actively raining/snowing
Ida Assistance
This week, on January 9th and 11th, volunteers from the Village of Mamaroneck’s Affordable Housing Task Force and the Mamaroneck Coalition for Affordable Housing are offering help in applying for the New York State Office of Homes and Community Renewal homeowner grant program for Hurricane Ida repairs and reimbursement. Please see this Grant Application Flyer for information about who qualifies, what kind of documentation you may need, and what type of assistance is available.
Weekly Spotlight
The Earth Dome is a gigantic inflatable earth balloon standing 19-feet high and 22-feet in diameter. K-2 students visited by class to see and better understand the scale of concepts such as continents, time zones, latitude, longitude, and more! Thank you to Amy Bennett, our PTSA STEAM Coordinator for making this possible.
"Wunderville," our DW Wonder Studio inspired community, is being developed! Inspired by our local community students in every class built a building to create Wunderville. I look forward to sharing pictures of students interacting and exploring the village as their community study in the Wonder Studio culminates.
