The Rocket Report Family Edition
August 2024
It's that time! We are ready for you!
Dear Rainwater Families,
I hope your summer is relaxing, rejuvenating, and filled with some adventure.
I am honored to serve you and blessed to be a part of this amazing community of educators and families. I look forward to celebrating with you this year at Rainwater as we work together to provide the absolute best for our students!
This is the first edition of The Rocket Report for families for the 2024-2025 school year. My goal is for this monthly newsletter to communicate upcoming events and highlight the amazing things that are happening here at Rainwater.
We are counting down the days until we see you all on Monday, August 12th! There is information below about our upcoming events and what you can expect.
Being a Rainwater Rocket is quite a special thing. We look forward to seeing our returning friends and meeting our new friends....
With kindest regards,
Mrs. Nicole Greenleaf

Meet the Principal
I am excited and honored to get to know each of you and your precious children. I would love for you to know a little more about me so that we can begin to make connections.
- I am considered a military brat. My mom is a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force and I had the opportunity to travel all over the United States when younger. Ultimately, we landed in San Antonio, where I went to high school. My mom still lives in San Antonio and we visit her often.
- I received my undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. Whoop! The moment I toured the campus, I knew I needed to be an Aggie. I earned my master's degree from Southern Methodist University. Pony Up!
- I made my way to Dallas in 2010, working at Farmers Branch Elementary as a 1st grade teacher. In 2015, I became a math instructional coach for CFB serving Blanton and Davis Elementary. I had the opportunity to serve as an assistant principal in the district for four years. My previous campuses were Central, Thompson and Country Place Elementary. This is be fourth year to serve the students, staff, and community at Rainwater!
- My husband, Jerad, and I have been blessed with three little boys. Mattis (6), Murphy (4) and PJ (1) keep us on our toes. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment in our home.
- My family loves to travel and visit close friends. Our favorite spots that we try to visit often include Telluride, Albuquerque, Arkansas and the Big Island of Hawaii.
- I love children and serving families and am truly dedicated to this work! It is my passion.
- It is my joy to partner with you to help your child(ren) be their very best!
I look forward to working with you and your children. Together, we can continue to make a positive, impactful difference in the education of our students.
This summer we did what we could to beat the heat. The little splash pad from Aldi came in handy!
This summer we took a quick family trip to Broken Bow, OK.
You can always find us outside! We enjoyed morning trips to the park.

Please access the link below to set up your Parent Square Account. This will take you to the district website with information on ParentSquare. Each month my newsletter will come via Parent Square. All information about anything regarding Rainwater will be in the newsletters.
First Day of School
Please drop students off at their classroom's door and have them enter their classroom independently. This helps students build independence as they begin their first day in their new "home away from home".
We ask that after you drop your child off at the class and take a picture, that you exit the building through the front doors by 7:30 when school begins.
Thank you!
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Dismissal
The doors will open for students at 7:00 am. Students may enter through the front door of Rainwater. Please pull all the way forward as directed by staff to drop off your child. We will have several staff members on duty to assist your child out of the car.
For any students who arrive after 7:30, parents will need to park and come into the building to sign in their student.
Afternoon Dismissal
We will dismiss students this year the same way we did last year. All students will be dismissed out of the front of the building and lined up with their grade level. This system proved to be safe and efficient last year. As a reminder, while in the car line please stay in your car. Also, please have your car tag hanging so that staff an quickly identify your student. Staff members will assist with loading students into cars. Please be patient with us the first few days of school as we get the students back into the routine.
Other Keys to a Successful Drop-Off and Dismissal:
1. It is imperative, for the safety of students and staff that ALL kids who exit cars, exit on the side of the curb. Please take time to rearrange cars so that children can do this.
2. Please watch and pull as far forward as you can. Watch the staff outside to motion for you so that we can get the most cars in the line to open doors and get kids out or put them in.
3. Children may not be picked up early to avoid carpool line. Children, who have appointments for the afternoon, must be picked up by 2:30 or wait and exit as normal at 2:55.
4. Patience is the key when picking up children. We will do our VERY BEST each day for every child to be safe going home. We treasure your children so a little extra time, now and then, is worth it for the safety of each child and staff member.

Lunch with Parents
Parents,
We know you are excited to enjoy lunch with your kids, and we love to share lunch with you. We will begin Student Lunch with Parents on Friday, September 6th. The first few weeks of school we use that time to solidify our procedures, help students (especially our youngest) learn the routines of the cafeteria, and allow students time to form friendships and visit.
Thank you for understanding. From September 6th forward, parents are invited to the cafeteria to lunch with their children each Friday.
Launch Squad
At Rainwater we are Rocket Loud & Rocket Proud and that starts with our families! We are excited to kick off a brand new way for you to get involved, introducing the Launch Squad: a group To grow parent involvement and male presence on campus through positively impacting the wellbeing of students & staff.
This hype squad will be out at drop off on Friday mornings pumping kids up with fist bumps and high-fives as they come in to school! If you’d like more information email Josh Carter: joshuacarter01@me.com .
