Our Path Note Topic
In the fall, we have a nice breaks in November and December. January, February and March can be challenging.
With that in mind, below are a few tips of how to cope from Kaiser Permanente.
1. Exercise--Go for walk, go for a swim (inside preferably), and/or go to the gym.
2. Vitamin D--Get some sunlight (as much as it is available). Spend some time closer to a window if possible, or try a Vitamin D supplement.
3. Sunlight--Same as number 2, but get a sunlight lamp if necessary. 'Just make sure you are getting some sunlight.
4. Eat Healthy--Grains are good for energy. Make sure you are eating green and orange. Broccoli, kale and carrots fit that order. Eat plenty of colors.
5. Stimulate your senses--Paint your walls a different color...A bright color. Go home a different way. Do something different from the dull routine of every day.
6. Nurture Your Spirit--Find a comfortable, cozy spot, and read a book or write in a journal. Maybe your journal can become a book someday!
7. See a Therapist--A therapist can provide the tools to help you do the things that will make you feel emotionally better...resulting in a physically better you.
Other suggestions some experts have are to get on a regular sleep routine, stay away from watching the news for awhile, and to have a support system such as family, friends and others you can reach out to.
Don't let the winter, testing, and the drudgery of the time of year get you down. The good thing is, nicer days do lie ahead.

Piece of the Puzzle
This Week's Piece of the Puzzle is Marcia Pyles. Marci is a new addition to the Mowrey Mustang family as the Mowrey school counselor. As a first year counselor she has made it a priority to build rapport and relationships with our learners, families, and staff. She continues to go above and beyond to support both our building and community. While running a full schedule or learner groups, she also continues to support the vision of First Choice through a wide variety of classroom lessons. Marcia also leads the Mowrey Community Keepers committee which focuses on community outreach. Most recently, Marcia has been planning the development of belessing boxes to be placed in the Mont Alto and South Mountain areas as well as our upcoming Kindness Week which will feature a community superhero day. Mowrey is blessed to have Marci as a member of our family.
Join us in congratulating Marcia Pyles as this week's Piece of the Puzzle.
