Join the HMS PTO!
The students and teachers of HMS have always benefitted from the tremendous support of our wonderful parents and families, as well as the hard work of our PTO. From Fall Social events for our kids at each grade level, to generous mini-grants that fund innovative teaching initiatives, to important and impactful student assemblies and parent education events, our school would not be the same place without our PTO!
As we look to next year, we are asking for your help.
Our PTO is in need of volunteers to take on important board and leadership roles that will help this great work to continue.
We ask that you consider volunteering for one of the following positions:
- President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Mini Grant Chair
If you are interested, please reach out to our current president, Crystal Sullivan at csullivan@sullivan-solutions.com
Thank you!

An Egg-citing Day at the Races
On Friday, April 26th, Mr. Gammon's eighth grade Tech Ed students participated in this year’s CO2 Egg Car Championship. The winners from each individual class raced against one another in the cafeteria to determine a school-wide champion. The goal was to make the fastest car possible while maintaining the safety of an egg "passenger".
The competition was fierce and all of the participants performed egg-cellently, but Sam Ferrara ended up stealing the show. After losing to Matthew Biro for speed in two out of three races Sam ended up winning the championship because he had an unbroken egg while Matthew’s cracked.
Congratulations and well done to all of the participants.
Grade Eight Civics Week Activities
Our grade eight students had a wonderful week, both home and away, visiting areas of historical significance as a part of our annual Civics Week.
From Plimoth Pawtuxet to the Washington Monument, our students were extending their learning well beyond the confines of the classroom.
An enormous thank you to the many teachers who volunteered their time and efforts in order to make these trips happen!

Juneteenth Student Art Contest – Call for Student Submissions
In 2024, the national theme for Black History Month was “African Americans and the Arts,” intended to highlight the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.
As part of the celebration of Juneteenth in Hingham this year, the Hingham Unity Council is inviting all students in grades Pre K-12 who live and/or attend school on the South Shore to share their views on the theme: What does the rich cultural legacy of Black Americans mean to me and/or my community?
Students are invited to express or reflect on this through a work of visual or performance art, an essay or other written work. Students may submit an essay, poem, a piece of visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture – any medium of expression is welcome!), a video or original song or other performance to the Juneteenth committee by Friday, May 31, 2024.
