Gilberts Elementary
Week of February 10th 💘
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Grizzly Families,
February is here and there are so many events that you and your family can take part in. On Friday, February 7th we are holding our annual Dodgeball for a Cure event at 6:00 P.M. at Hampshire High School. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Also, we are looking forward to another great Fun Fair on February 22nd from 12-4. We hope to see you and the entire family at these great events.
During the month of February you will also see a letter about the 5 Essentials Survey. This is given each year to teachers, parents and students in grades 4 – 12. Please take time to read this letter, and then take the survey about our school. We do look at this data and review it annually with our staff. The survey results are also included in our school designation rating each year and is an important way for us to reflect on how we are servicing our students and families.
We are looking forward to our Valentine’s Parties on February 14 th . Thank you to all the parents who are coordinating and planning these events.
Our next PTO general meeting is Wednesday, February 12th . We hope you will join us for the virtual meeting as we continue to plan great events and activities for students and families.
Lastly, thank you for your flexibility during the month of January with our first e-learning day of the 2024-2025 school year. Our staff had been prepping for this earlier in the year and ensuring that students were made aware of where to go in the event of an e-learning day. Hopefully we won’t need another but you never know what February weather holds.

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Please be careful when dropping off or picking up your child at school. Cars should arrive between 7:45 A.M. and 8:00 A.M. Supervision begins at 7:45 A.M. Students are marked tardy if they arrive after 8:05 A.M. The safety of our children is most important to us. The following is a list of safety concerns:
Please stay in the car line. Do not cut around the car line. Everyone is trying to drop-off or pick- up their child. Following the pick-up and drop-off lines does not take a long time if everyone obeys the rules.
- Pull all the way to the front of the car line.
- Do not exit your vehicle while in the car line.
- Do not leave your car unattended in the car line. If you need to get out of your car for any reason, please park in the front parking lot. Use the crosswalk and sidewalks to ensure visibility and safety.
- Give buses the right of way. Allow buses to enter and exit the parking lot ahead of you.
Remember to be safe and show each other courtesy when dropping off and picking up your child. The Gilberts Police Department does an excellent job of controlling traffic on Galligan Rd. Please know that there are times when the police officers are called away from the school and are unable to provide traffic control. Thank you for your cooperation.
Notes From the Nurse's Office
Before any medication can be dispensed at school, medication forms must be completed and signed by both a parent and a doctor. Medication and all other over the counter medicines must be kept in the nurse’s office.
🏫 Is There School Today?
The district makes every attempt to contact you if school is closed. On your caller ID the district’s Rapid Communication System number appears as (847)551-8394. When you receive a call from this number please listen to the entire message. School closings are posted on the district app and website. School closings are also communicated to local radio and television stations. Look for District 300 not Gilberts Elementary on your television.
