It's the first of March and the final day of the second trimester! Looking back to where we started in mid-November, so much has changed at Fletcher and all for the better! We're charged up and ready to finish this year stronger than ever. That launch starts today, Read Across America Day! All of our classes are going to compete in the first ever March Madness Rally for Reading challenge. Each week students will keep track of how many pages and/or books they've read. Those totals will be tabulated on Thursday during library time. The next day the highest scoring students in each grade will be recognized and win prizes at our Falcon Friday breakfast celebration. The class (team) with the most points at the end of the month win the grand prize!

Here's the trick, students must be present on Thursday for their points to count and Friday to claim their award. Attendance is extra important in the third trimester for more reasons than that. Our school is part of a competition in San Diego Unified to improve attendance. The school that improves their attendance the most between March 1st and April 30th wins tickets to a Padres game for the ENTIRE SCHOOL and a visit by All-Star, Manny Machado! This week's Student of the Week is Sadie in Mrs. Wilsie's class. Sadie is a wonderful student who demonstrates strong leadership. She shows a love of learning every day and consistently puts first things first. She is always prepared to give her best effort and shows enthusiasm for everything! She is a self motivated learner whose postive attitude makes her complete joy! In addition, Sadie is always respectful to her teacher and her friends. Thank you for being a gift to Team 7, Sadie, and thank you for being such an incredible Falcon by exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!
