FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Dear CMIT North High School Community,
As we approach the end of 2024, I want to reflect on the incredible achievements and activities that have made this month so memorable.
We are thrilled to announce that CMIT North High School has received the Project 2024 quarterly Community Service Champion Award! This prestigious recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of our counseling, teachers, parents, and administrative teams in supporting our students' reaching their maximum potential. Thank you for being such an integral part of our student’s success.
This month, we established an exciting new partnership with the Naval Nuclear Engineering Program. Representatives from the program visited our school to meet with our students, sharing insights into engineering careers and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
Additionally, our Career Day was a huge success. Students had the chance to engage with professionals from various fields, exploring the vast array of opportunities awaiting them. Events like these are crucial in helping our students envision their futures and set ambitious goals.
December has been packed with festive activities. From our Winter Fun Spirit Week to other holiday-themed events, our school community has come together to celebrate and create lasting memories. These moments of joy and connection are what make CMIT North so special.
We have also started the process to receive Cognia accreditation and National STEM Certification. These prestigious recognitions will help our school be acknowledged nationally for its high standards and commitment to excellence in education.
As we head into the winter break, I encourage all our students to take this time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the company of their loved ones. It’s essential to rest and prepare for the challenges ahead.
When we return in January, we will hit the ground running with a busy schedule, including preparations for standardized testing and other academic milestones. I am confident that, with the support of our dedicated staff and families, our students will rise to the occasion and continue to excel.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

Health and Wellness Club: YOGA
The Wellness Club began meeting with our students Friday, November 15th offering yoga and meditation to improve focus and concentration for our students. Each session has been attended by at least 5 participants with some being more consistent than others. We truly appreciate the commitment parents and students are demonstrating to improve their health and wellness. While the Wellness Club is an inclusive group that has been offered to the whole school, we have focused on students who have demonstrated academic challenges and who may need to improve their focus in an effort to improve academically.
This past week, we were able to have our boys basketball team join in person and our girls basketball team join virtually. This is an exciting prospect to bring wellness practice to our students at CMIT. It has been wonderful to see our students participate in wellness and 7self-affirming positive practices. Coriolis Effect Activity in Ms. de Guzman's Class
Ms. de Guzman’s class explored the Coriolis Effect through a hands-on activity using balloons and markers. Students labeled the poles and equator on the balloons to represent Earth, then drew straight lines while spinning them to observe how Earth's rotation causes deflection, simulating global wind and ocean currents.
This engaging activity helped students understand the Coriolis Effect’s impact on weather patterns, such as hurricanes and trade winds. Through discussions, they connected their observations to real-world applications like weather forecasting.
Students enjoyed the creative approach, which made complex concepts easier to grasp, and Ms. de Guzman plans to incorporate similar activities into future lessons.
