Counselor's Corner: Welcome Letter
Hello Good Shepherd Families!
My name is Jessica Crocker and I am the new School Counselor. I am thrilled to be joining Good Shepherd School! This is a vibrant and welcoming community with the Holy Spirit all around! Already I have heard such wonderful things about the families and I am excited to meet each of you.
Kansas is still a bit new to my family and I. We moved here from Nebraska- although I am not a native Nebraskan- just 2 years ago. We have quickly become Chiefs fans and developed an appreciation for Butter Cake! I have two children, a boy and a girl, who attend Catholic schools in the area. My husband and I also have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I am a dog fanatic, as well as a lover of books, my faith (how awesome is our Jesus?!?!), coffee, and cheering on my kiddos.
I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Master’s Degree in Counseling. I have done extensive work with people battling depression, anxiety, identity issues, trauma, grief, safety, and home/life changes. I have worked in dioceses, schools, companies, non-profit organizations, and private practice. God has truly, truly blessed my education and experiences and molded me into the counselor that I am today. I firmly believe in the Holy Spirit’s presence in each meeting I have with students.
My strength lies in: 1) Seeing each student as being made in the image of Christ 2) Meeting students right where they are at with things. 3) Engaging with students on their level. I am typically wearing bright colors within my outfit along with a smile on my face. High fives and are always available and so is a safe, listening ear. Dance moves (oh yes, I can do the griddy!) along with fresh problem-solving, and strategies are always available.
Parents, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. I encourage you not to wait until what is a little mole hill to turn into a mountain. During the school year, I will begin by being available on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school hours. Please feel free to call or email me anytime. Hooray for the 2024-2025 School Year!
Blessings,
Jessica Crocker

Fall seasonal allergies are here and will be around until the first frost. Symptoms of seasonal allergies can include:
- Stuffy nose, runny nose, or sneezing
- Headache
- Itchy or red eyes
- Sore throat, or itchy throat or ears
- Waking up at night or having trouble sleeping, which can lead to feeling tired or having trouble concentrating during the day.
If you know your child has seasonal allergies, please ensure that they are taking their medication as prescribed by the student’s doctor. If your child is having any of the above symptoms, please consider seasonal allergies. You may want to ask your child’s pediatrician if an antihistamine would be beneficial for them.
