Brookside Blast
3/28/25
Principals' Message
This week, the ECHO center came to BPS! Through a partnership with the museum and their professional learning opportunities for teachers, the STEM Fair came alive at Brookside on Thursday 3/27! The ECHO truck travels with enough STEM fun to fill a gym and features engaging activities for all ages, including a 12 foot tall wind wall, giant blue building blocks, a 30 foot Lego race track, ECHO STEM Festival Guide, planning support, and more. It is truly an interactive exhibit! Here is a slideshow with an overview of the event, and be sure to ask your student what their favorite part was.
We were treated to a “sneak preview” of the HUHS Spring Musical, Anything Goes this morning! Director Scott Weigand and four cast members visited Brookside this morning and shared a sampling of song and dance that will be sure to entertain the whole family! The performances at the Harwood auditorium will be Thursday - Saturday April 3-5, with evening shows at 7:30pm. There will also be a family-friendly matinee at 1:30 on Saturday which will include an introduction to the orchestra and a “meet the cast” on stage following the show. Tickets are available at the door - $10 adults, $5 students.
On Tuesday, April 8, Brookside will have an amazing duo of superheroes without capes, including a Purple Heart Recipient who has published a children’s book, to teach our students how to activate compassion, empathy and HOPE in their classrooms — and beyond. You can find out more about this exciting opportunity at Sweethearts and Heroes.
Next week we welcome April. Along with showers in preparation for May flowers, the first week in April is National Paraeducators Appreciation Week. A quick shout out to the BPS paraprofessionals that work so hard to support all students at BPS:
