The Roadrunner Review
January 2025
Principal Message
Hi, Roadrunner Families! I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break! I can't believe it is almost the 100th day of school. This year is flying by! We had a busy month leading up to the break with all of our middle of the year benchmark testing and holiday concerts. For the upcoming Teacher In-Service Day, our teachers will be diving into the benchmark data, setting new goals, and making action steps to help our students grow and achieve! Please remember the importance of your children coming to school each day and on time. We don't want them to miss any learning. Thank you so much for your continued support!
With Roadrunner Pride,
Principal Fox

Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, please call the attendance line at 623-535-6203 or email at sleattendance@lesd79.org
The education of our students is extremely important, and being in class is vital to their academic success. School attendance is not only a good habit, state law requires it. Arizona State Law (15-802.E, 15-803.) requires every person who has custody of a child between the ages of six and sixteen years shall make sure the child attends school for the full time school is in session, unless unable to attend due to illness or another legitimate reason.
To encourage and improve school attendance, Litchfield Elementary School District has implemented a truancy program in partnership with Maricopa County Juvenile Court. This truancy program is called C.U.T.S. (Court Unified Truancy Suppression). We will be tracking attendance very closely. We appreciate your cooperation in this very important matter. Remember, kids who attend school more often will learn more!
School Safety
Important components of school safety at Scott Libby Elementary for students, families, and staff:
- School gates are closed and locked during school hours
- All classroom doors are locked at all times
- All visitors and/or volunteers must check-in and out through the front office
- Our front office will remain locked during school hours. Please ring the doorbell.
- The school has authority to not allow visitors on campus at their discretion.
- After a volunteer applies and is approved, volunteer opportunities must be pre-arranged with the classroom teacher and communicated with the front office prior to volunteering
- Evacuation/fire drills are completed once per month
- Lockdown drills are completed multiple times per year
- Bus evacuation drills are completed at least 2 times per year
- Staff participate in continuous safety protocols and training throughout the school year
Immunizations
Please make sure your child is up to date on ALL immunizations. Please turn in updated shot records to Nurse Webb. School Nurse Info
Volunteer Procedures
We are delighted to invite you to become a Litchfield Elementary School District volunteer. Our students, teachers, and staff deeply appreciate the work of enthusiastic volunteers throughout the district. We take significant precautions to ensure student and campus safety.
All parent and community volunteers must be approved to volunteer prior to working on campus or attending a field trip.
- Please allow at least two weeks for the volunteer approval process to be completed.
- All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older.
- All volunteers must submit a new Volunteer Application Packet each school year.
- Custodial volunteers are processed by school office staff. Non-custodial applications are processed at the District Office.

Tax Credit
Tax credit donation is a win-win combination! You can donate up to $200 as an individual or $400 as a couple to your child's school and receive full credit on your state taxes. Our tax credit money is essential in helping us continue the programs and activities we have become accustomed to providing for our families. This money can help fund field trips, before and after school activities and clubs, character education programs, and music, art, drama, and sports programs. Click here for more information and forms. The staff and students of Scott Libby Elementary School thank you for your support!
