News from Dr. Buch, Mrs. Yoder, and Mrs. Giacomin-Ferris
Below are a few important things to put on your radar regarding our Halloween celebrations at Westgate...
Lunch Procedures:
We will have one lunch shift at Westgate from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
Students going home for lunch will be dismissed through the front doors at 12:15 p.m. and should return to Westgate at 1:15 p.m.
Parents of students going home for lunch should have completed the form sent home last week. Please reach out to the office if you will be taking your child home for lunch and did not complete the form.
Students will only be dismissed outside if the form is completed or parents have contacted the office.
Students staying at Westgate for lunch recess can eat, play inside, and dress in their costumes before returning to their classrooms for the afternoon activities.
Parade:
The parade will begin at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday (weather permitting).
We will follow the same route as in past years. Students will walk north on Dwyer, cross east at Sigwalt, and then walk south on Dwyer back to Westgate.
The parade will be live-streamed for parents who cannot attend or in the event of poor weather. A link will be sent to families on Tuesday.
If you are viewing the parade, please keep the sidewalks clear.
Morning kindergarten will have its parade at 9:10 a.m. Please see kindergarten teachers for details.
Costumes:
Costumes should be appropriate for school with no overly bloody or scary images.
They should also not have any weapons (knives, swords, guns).
If your child’s costume has a mask, please be sure they can see through it and walk safely inside and outside the building.
Parent Party Volunteers:
Only parents assigned to help with classroom parties will be allowed in the building.
Parent volunteers must bring a driver’s license or state-issued identification to enter the building.
If you have not been added to our security system, feel free to stop by before Tuesday to run your identification through the system. This will allow us to minimize the lines before the party.
No younger siblings are allowed to attend the party.
Breakfast at Westgate
Breakfast is offered at your school this year! The cost of breakfast is $1.75. If you qualify for the free/reduced price meal program, you receive breakfast for free or a reduced price of $.30. Breakfast includes one entree, up to two options of fruit and a milk.
Students can enter the main doors starting at 8:45 am and grab a breakfast from the breakfast cart. Students will sit in the cafeteria to eat. Breakfast is open until 9 am. Check our menu to view our daily options!
Please practice care when driving near Westgate during arrival and dismissal.
We have many staff outside to assist students and direct traffic.
It's important that drivers be mindful and follow the directions of the staff.
They are there for the safety of our students. Thank you!
