News and Notes
- Book Fair- Next week is the book fair! We are excited to see all the Grandparents visiting the fair with their students. If your child does not have a grandparent attending, they are welcome to still shop during their grandparent event, or the fair will also be open to the BES public on Thursday, September 12 from 4:00-6:30. Remember that you can also set up an Ewallet this weekend for your child to spend money in the form of a “gift card” at the fair. Your support of this annual event has let us buy new books for the library, and provide all of our students a free book at both Christmastime and before summer break. Wow…thank you! https://www.scholastic.com/bf/berrytonelementaryschool1.

4th Grade Fun
4th grade has been conducting soil investigations. We applied our understanding of soil is and what it can be made of, to create our own. The pudding represented silt/clay, M&Ms represented pebbles, the black Oreos were crushed up a little bit and represented gravel, crushed up white Oreos represented sand, and gummy worms represented the humus. Students made their soil, drew a picture of it and described the various layers in the soil in their journals using the scientific terms we had learned about. It was so much fun!
