Principal's Corner
Dear Henry Family,
I would like to thank our school community, families, teachers, and students for participating in many memorable events last month in October. We are especially glad to have your participation with Astronomy Night, our pumpkin decorating contest, the Boo Bash, and our annual Halloween parade.
In November, this month, our Gila Monsters are learning about “Gratitude” with our TUSD adopted Character Strong Curriculum that is presented in our classrooms by teachers and our school counselor. Additionally, students will hear more about “Gratitude” during morning announcements. The character strength of gratitude involves feeling and expressing a deep sense of thankfulness in life, and more specifically, taking the time to genuinely express thankfulness to others. This thankfulness can be for specific gifts or thoughtful acts of kindness.
We are very proud to announce the Arizona Department of Education has released official school letter grades last Friday. Our school continues to demonstrate growth, and Henry earned a “B” for our letter grade. We are immensely proud of our students and team members for their roles in reaching this achievement. Our Henry team is strongly committed to the necessary classroom instruction and intervention / enrichment practices as we work towards making additional progress with all our students this year! Henry families are an integral part to this accomplishment. Thank you for your support with student achievement. We ask that you please continue to support classroom instruction by ensuring your student is on time for school every day. It is essential for all students to arrive on time for learning, as this is a productive first step to start the school day when new information is shared.
I would like to extend an expression of gratitude this month to all our United States Veterans for your support and sacrifice to ensure our freedom. Veterans Day is celebrated Monday, November 11, and there is NO SCHOOL for TUSD students on this day.
Respectfully,
Thomas Heminger, principal
Pumpkin Contest
Thank you to all our families who brought in a pumpkin for our annual pumpkin contest. The pumpkins were amazing, and the students and staff enjoyed visiting the library to view them.
