Hillcrest Elementary School
Week of December 3, 2023
What's Up Next?
Happy Sunday!
Let us first say Congratulations to our Lead Learner, Dr. Fred Williams, for being selected as the Superintendent of the Year for the state of Georgia. We are so proud of him and to have him as our leader.
As we gear up for another exciting and busy week at Hillcrest, we hope that you will join in on the fun. We will begin our 10 Day Count Down to the Christmas Holidays by dressing it up over the next two weeks. The flyer is included below. We will also host our 2nd – 4th grade Christmas Family Luncheon on Thursday. Don’t forget to join us Thursday for an evening of fun events with our Winter Wonderland Literacy and Fine Arts Night beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Students will begin our middle of the year assessments this week, starting with Acadience (literacy) for grades K-4, BEACON for 3rd and 4th grades, and end of the nine weeks post assessments. Please make sure students are getting plenty of rest and are prepared to do their best.
Lastly, Thank you to the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, INC. and our Board Member, Ms. Joanna Glover, for helping improve our environment with the planting of trees on our playground recently. Members of our Student Garden Club, under the leadership of Mrs. Leigh Anne Lawrence, joined this team in planting a few trees around our playground area, as well as spreading straw and watering them. Our Student Garden Club members were excited about this opportunitiy to serve.
Have a great week ahead & Don't Stop Believing!
Habit of the Week: Habit #2 – Begin With The End In Mind
Begin With the End in Mind means that an individual must start with a clear understanding of their destination. Take time now to figure out where it is you are trying to go or do to help you better understand where you currently are. This will help in determining the steps needed to take you in the right direction of reaching your goal.
Family Activity: Have each family member create a Personal Mission Statement. It should focus on what you want to be and do. This will become your plan for success and put your goals in focus to becoming a reality. Start now so that you can become the leader of your own life.
“Your most important work is always ahead of you, never behind you.” – Dr. Stephen R. Covey
