Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of May 4, 2025
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear EHTHS Families,
This week we celebrated our amazing staff with a BBQ, nacho bar, and a sweet treat from Maui Joe’s Shave Ice. Shout out to Ms. Olenik, Ms. Bell and our Renaissance Club for making this week so special for all of our staff!
On May 6th, our Medical Science Academy seniors visited the Rutgers University Cadaver Lab. Students had the rare opportunity to observe and interact with real human cadavers, apply their learning from the past four years, and explore advanced medical topics like joint replacements and cardiac procedures. It was an unforgettable, hands-on experience in functional anatomy.
Students in Ms. Tucci’s Hospitality Management class welcomed representatives from Atlantic Cape Community College for an engaging, hands-on session led by Ms. Jeanine DiNardo. Through interactive board games and real-world hospitality scenarios, students explored key concepts like customer service, hotel operations, and event planning. The visit also introduced students to academic and career opportunities in the hospitality and tourism industry, providing valuable insight into post-secondary pathways.
EHTHS Varsity Esports clinched a spot in the Spring State Championship after a clean sweep over Absegami! Our JV team went undefeated and claimed the Atlantic County Invitational Championship with a perfect 10-0 record. The Varsity squad also finished 3rd overall in the Grand County Final with a strong 9-6 season record.
The Happy Accidentals earned 1st place at the TIA Atlantic Coast Jazz Championships in Wildwood! They brought home multiple Best Section Awards and solo honors for Marco Barrella, Chris De La Rosa, and Jacob Wood. Chris earned his fifth soloist award this season and, along with Michael “Two Shoes” Hanna, was selected for the All-Star Band. The band also participated in a clinic and received a signed flag from the U.S. Marine Corps Jazz Band — a true honor!
With a 9-4 record and a perfect 6-0 in league play, the boys tennis team is having a standout year. Led by senior captains Zack Borden and Vincent Zheng, with strong support across the board, the team is charging into the postseason full of confidence.
The girls crew team had five boats reach the finals — one of the strongest showings in program history. The Varsity Four earned bronze, just missing silver by 0.05 seconds. The boys team added silver in the 2nd varsity race and bronze in the lightweight 4. Varsity 8 put in a strong performance as well. Interested in joining? Register for summer camp at ehtcrewboosters.org.
This was a great week for Athletic Milestones. Suhayla Johnson Ramirez earned her 500th career save as goalie for girls lacrosse. Kaci Velardi hit her 100th career hit and now holds program records for stolen bases (75) and triples (10). Jake Cagna broke the program record for career runs scored (83) — a mark previously held since 1999! Finally, Boys Track won their 10th consecutive County Championship!
We are now accepting nominations for the EHTHS Athletic Hall of Fame! Know someone who made an impact? Please CLICK HERE to nominate a deserving athlete or team.
Staff continued the Ice Bucket Challenge to support Mental Health Awareness. This week’s participants included Mr. Hickman, Ms. Camp, Ms. Husta, Ms. Olenik, Mr. Passante and Mr. Kopf . More challenges to come!
Today is the final day to purchase Prom tickets. Students must complete the Prom packet Google Form (posted in Google Classroom) and be on credit status to attend. Questions? Contact Ms. Cole.

Atlantic Cape Community College Visits EHTHS for Hospitality Management Class
On Wednesday, April 30th, students in Ms. Tucci’s Hospitality Management class at Egg Harbor Township High School had the exciting opportunity to engage with representatives from Atlantic Cape Community College. Led by Ms. Jeanine DiNardo, the visit offered students a dynamic, hands-on introduction to the hospitality industry.
During the session, students participated in interactive board games designed to highlight key concepts in hospitality management. These engaging activities challenged students to think critically about real-world scenarios in the industry, from customer service dilemmas to hotel operations and event planning.
Ms. DiNardo, a passionate advocate for hospitality education, also shared insights into Atlantic Cape’s academic programs, career pathways, and the many opportunities available to students pursuing a future in hospitality and tourism.
The visit served as a valuable experience for students to connect classroom learning with industry practices, while also exploring potential post-secondary options in the field.
Jazz Band
Egg Harbor Township High School’s jazz band, The Happy Accidentals, took home 1st place at the TIA Atlantic Coast Jazz Championships in Wildwood on Friday, May 2nd, capping off a remarkable season filled with accolades and standout performances.
Throughout the season, the band earned multiple Best Section Awards for their trumpet section, saxophone section, and rhythm section. Individual honors were awarded to senior Marco Barrella, Chris De La Rosa, and Jacob Wood for their outstanding solo work. At Friday’s championship event, Chris and Jacob shared the Best Soloist Award, marking Chris’s fifth soloist award this season—a truly exceptional achievement.
As part of the championship experience, the band participated in a clinic led by the United States Marine Corps Jazz Band, followed by a concert performance by the Marines prior to the awards ceremony. In a special moment of recognition, the Marine Corps Jazz Band presented The Happy Accidentals with a Marine Corps flag signed by all of its members, a token of honor and encouragement.
Two EHT seniors, Michael “Two Shoes” Hanna and Chris De La Rosa, were selected to perform in the All-Star Band, comprised of top musicians from all competing schools.
This championship victory is a testament to the hard work, talent, and dedication of The Happy Accidentals and their director. Congratulations to all the students on a phenomenal season!

#DAY 1
The High School will be continuing with this bullying-prevention program for the 2024-25 school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion, outline expectations for behavior toward each other and the responsibility to intervene, report and to reach out for help if individuals observe bullying behavior.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams.
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly.
This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring--this notion is called being an Upstander--an #EHTUPSTANDER. Hit the play button below and see for yourself! 🤩
Has YOUR student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
🌟 THE SOPHOMORES CURRENTLY HAVE THE MOST #EHTUPSTANDER PLEDGES!🌟
