The Northwest Michigan HotJobs! List: This list can help guide students to a high-demand career. Northwest Michigan Works! has analyzed online job posting data and surveyed employers to create a list of the most in-demand jobs in Northwest Michigan.
Northwest Michigan Career Outlook: This publication highlights Michigan’s high-demand, high-wage careers that show a favorable mix of projected long-term job growth, projected annual job openings, and median wages through 2030.
SAT Practice: Students can get their scores for all PSAT-related assessments by logging into Student Score Reports with the username and password they use for their College Board account.
All 9th-11th grade students can begin preparing for the SAT/PSAT that they will take on April 9, 2025. Below are a few ways for students to prepare:
- CollegeBoard Full-length Practice Tests: The Full-length practice tests in Bluebook™ are the most accurate way to measure your skills for the actual test. You will need to sign in with your College Board username and password (on Chromebook). After completion of a practice test, your practice scores will be available in your College Board Account under My Practice.
- Khan Academy Official Digital SAT Prep: Khan Academy is a free resource that allows students to gain access to thousands of practice questions, videos, lessons, helpful hints, and valuable test-taking tips and strategies. khanacademy.org/digital-sat
Student activity opportunities:
- We’re excited to announce the launch of the very first Titan Winter Guard, and we invite all students to be a part of this amazing new team! Winter Guard is a dynamic indoor sport that combines elements of dance, flags, rifles, sabres, and choreography to create stunning visual performances set to music. An introductory meeting for students and parents will be held in the LMC on Wednesday, November 6, from 6-7 pm. Come join us to learn more about this exciting new experience and how you can be involved!
- The Business Club will be holding an informational meeting on Wednesday November 6th in B 204 @ 7:40
- The VASA Raptors XC Ski Team registration is now open through LEAP. There will be an information meeting at Hickory Hills on November 7th at 7pm
- There is Boys and Girls wrestling meeting on Wednesday November 6th in the wrestling room right after school.
- All freshmen through varsity boys basketball players interested in tryouts, there will be a mandatory meeting after school on Wednesday, November 6 in the small gym, 3:15-3:30.

TCAPS Updates
Superintendent Monthly Office Hours
Dr. John VanWagoner's monthly open office hours for community members will be held in person on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 5:00 pm at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. The meeting will be located on the mezzanine level (second floor) of the bookstore.
TCAPS Board of Education Monthly Office Hours
The Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) Board of Education will host its next monthly “office hours” in person on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Horizon Books, 243 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49684. The meeting will be located on the mezzanine level (second floor) of the bookstore. TCAPS Board office hours provide community members with the opportunity to talk to a school board trustee. This month, Trustee Ballenger le is scheduled to attend.
