Kakisa Lake School Newsletter

Students harvested the sprouts from our little greenhouse in the school! We have now transitioned to popcorn seeds and we'll see if they grow!

Students are working hard on their reading and writing. Next week students will be interviewing parents :). We are flexible on timing and I will call you to arrange a time for you to come in. The questions are simple ones. Students just want to get to know you and hear what life was like when you were a teenager, how you met your spouse, what kinds of things you like to do, etc. Prior to any interview, questions will be sent home with students so you can get a sense of the questions they want to ask.

We are moving on to our next unit of study in science. Students have a differentiated program for science and most have completed their projects or will complete in the next day or two. I look forward to hearing how they will reveal understanding of their next unit of study!

Our February Kindness Challenge is going well. Students may approach you to sign off on a task they have completed. Please do so in the box for the task. I am hopeful that all students will complete the Kindness Challenge. Prizes will be awarded for completing the challenge.

Monday and Tuesday we have regular school and the after school program. Valentine's Day celebrations will occur on Tuesday in the afternoon. We have created a piñata and it's filled with treat bags. We have cookies as well to celebrate Valentine's Day and a variety of activities planned. In addition all students will receive a VD sweatshirt!

Wednesday through Friday there is no school for students. These three days are professional learning days. I have opted to not travel to a conference this time so I will be doing online learning during those days. SAs will be doing online learning as well.

After school program will run from 3:30-5:30 Monday to Friday this week. We will have an on the land learning session on the weekend that will be offered by Julien. I will let you know the time for that as soon as I confirm.
