There will be no school on Thursday, November 11th, in honor of Veterans Day. This is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. We celebrate and honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Students that are behind pace have November 11th, the week of Thanksgiving Break (11/22-11/26), and the two weeks of Winter Break (12/20-12/31) to get caught up (16 total weekdays). If you are someone who is currently behind in their courses, DO NOT GIVE UP! You can do this! The system will not expect you to be working, so you can get back on track and finish strong if you use your time wisely. Remeber, when the relative grade is 60%, that means you have earned credit for your course. The relative grade is the grade a student would receive if they stopped working and received 0% for all unscored, counted activities. As a reminder, students need a final grade of at least 60% to earn credit for a course.

If you need help getting yourself organized or developing a strategy to pass your courses please please please let us know! Don't give up!

The SART meeting is an opportunity for the student, parent, teachers, counselor, and administrator (usually me) to have an open and honest conversation about what barriers might be preventing your student from logging in daily, submitting work, and progressing in their courses. We will use the time to determine what support might be needed and try to find ways to ensure that the student is meeting the expectations of our independent study program as well as finding academic success.

The goal of this meeting is to get the student back on track, not to punish the student. We are hoping for improvement, not perfection.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend, and enjoy the extra hour of sleep!

Tip: This is also a great time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and other home safety devices.

Please be aware that all communications generally receive a reply from school staff within 24 hours (not including holidays or weekends). Although the online system is typically available 24/7, our staff members are available during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.

The following table contains special offers extended by various providers throughout the state.

Re-engagement may be triggered by one or several of the following items:

1) If a pupil fails to complete assignments on time.

2) If a pupil is not generating attendance for more than three (3) school days or 60% of the instructional days in a school week,
3) If the pupil violates the terms of their master agreement.

4) If a student fails to attend daily synchronous instruction or live interaction.

5) If satisfactory academic progress in one or more courses is not being made.

Satisfactory academic progress for each pupil enrolled will be determined by all of the following:

1. The student's achievement and engagement in the program.
2. The completion of assignments, assessments, or other indicators that evidence that the pupil is working on assignments.
3. Learning required concepts, as determined by the supervising teacher.
4. Progressing toward successful completion of the course of study or individual course, as determined by the supervising teacher.

Each Friday, your Homeroom teacher will send the parent/guardian a Learning Log via Dochub. The learning log is a record that the parent/guardian will sign and initial certifying that the student listed above has "engaged in [required] educational activities" on each day that they have initialed.

Please take a minute to initial, sign, and finalized your student's learning log every Friday afternoon.

Each student at Peak Prep has been assigned a homeroom teacher. Your homeroom teacher will be your primary point of communication for support.
