The Blue Angel Weekly
November 6, 2023
Dear PCA Families,
Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Family Bingo Night on Friday!
**Parents, as you know we are going through our Accreditation this year. We need ALL families to complete this survey for us as part of our evidence. It will only take a few minutes. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/5P926NX
This week is our Scholastic Book Fair. Students will attend during their STREAM classes. Please send money in with them on their STREAM day OR sign up for ewallet. Follow this link to get more information about the e-wallet and to set up your account.
How eWallet Works (scholastic.com)
As a reminder, if your child is late to school, you must walk him/her into the building and sign him/her in at the front desk. Please do not send late children in by themselves. Thank you!
Please note, if your child is absent from school and you ordered a hot lunch, we will put it in the refrigerator for you to pick up by the end of the day (or send home with a sibling). We cannot give the lunch to a sibling to consume at a different lunch period because we need to maintain it at a certain temperature in order to serve it according to the Department of Health. If the lunch is not picked up, we will have to discard it in the morning per Department of Health guidelines. Thank you for understanding!

***SUN SAFETY FACTS - WEEK OF November 6***
This month, sun safety will focus on ultra-violet rays, what they are, and how they can hurt us.
Vocabulary:
ultra-violet rays- short light waves produced by the sun; there are three types: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C
skin damage- occurs when there is too much unprotected exposure to the sun’s UV rays. Damage to your skin can result in pre-mature aging, wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, sun spots, rough texture or more serious conditions
-Energy from the sun reaches the earth as visible, infrared, and ultraviolet. Only UV-A and UV-B reach the earth’s surface which can cause severe skin damage.
-Unlike heat and sun light, UV radiation cannot be felt. It can be harming your skin without you feeling it at all. UV radiation can also reflect off surfaces around you such as water, sand, concrete, and more.
-Your skin naturally gets darker when in the sun. This tan is a result of your body trying to protect itself from the U rays of the sun. When your skin can no longer protect itself, then your skin begins to burn.
***VIRTUES IN PRACTICE***
November's virtue of the month is HUMILITY . Humility is accepting your limitations and God-given talents.
Saints of the Month:
grades PK-2: St. John the Baptist
grades 3-5: St. Pio of Pietrelcina
grades 6-8: St. Therese of Lisieux
