Arya and Nira present to Rotary
Arya Patel and Nira Patel attended the annual four-day Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference in June, organized by the Rotary Clubs. During the conference, they focused on building communication and problem-solving skills, discovering strategies to become dynamic leaders in their schools and communities. Arya and Nira learned from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors. They also enjoyed fun activities and formed lasting friendships. Both students were invited to share their experiences at a Rotary meeting on Thursday, November 21st, at Seasons.

Phishing Campaign Targets Students Seeking Financial Assistance
Recently, our district was notified today by the New Jersey Cybersecurity Communications and Integration Cell (NJCCIC), under the authority of the NJ Office of Homeland Security, of an ongoing phishing campaign targeting students. Here is what was shared:
“The email includes a Microsoft Word attachment that details information on a supposed “US Student Service Supplementary Grant” available to students and designed to provide financial assistance for educational and well-being expenses. To obtain funds through this grant, the student is instructed to click on the included link to a Google form, which requests sensitive personal and financial information, including school and FAFSA account and online banking details, date of birth, and Social Security number. If this information is submitted, it is stolen by the threat actor behind the phishing campaign.”
They also make the following recommendations:
“The NJCCIC advises notifying students and staff of this phishing campaign and informing them that this is not a legitimate grant opportunity, and to refrain from submitting any information. If someone discloses their information, they are advised to change their passwords, enable multi-factor authentication, file a report with identitytheft.gov, and freeze their credit to combat identity theft attempts.”If you or a family member received an email like the one described above and took any action on it, we strongly recommend you follow the guidance provided above.
As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. Support requests can be submitted at https://paramus.incidentiq.com/.
