Sherwood ES Weekly Update

Next week is a regular week of school for all students.

5th grade promotion will be held on Tuesday, June 13th in the morning.

More details will be shared with families later this month.

May 24th at Sherwood High School Starting at 6:30pm.

Please join to hear the Sherwood Sharks Chorus, Beginning Strings, Beginning Band, Advanced Strings, and Advanced Band.

If you or someone you know owns an instrument such as flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet/cornet, trombone, baritone, violin, viola or cello that they are not using, please consider donating to the school. 2nd Grade will be going on a field trip to the Aviation Museum on Tuesday, May 9th.

5th Grade will be going on the extended day field trip to Philadelphia on Friday, May 12th.

The Sherwood High Pom Day Camp is happening on Saturday, May 13 from 8:30-11:30am.

What: Optional Kindergarten Caregiver Meeting

When: Wednesday, July 19, 6:15 PM (Our back up date if needed is Thursday, July 27, 6:15PM)

• We will hold one summer caregiver meeting here at Sherwood Elementary School to present a variety of strategies to help you and your child prepare for kindergarten.
• 40 minute OPTIONAL meeting for parents only- no children please. Infants ok.

Students have been working hard! Tests and assessments are great opportunities for our students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills learned so far. We will continue testing (including makeups for students who miss testing) through next month.

Tests can be stressful, but also a great time to shine! If you are looking for strategies to use to support your child, here are some to consider:

• Pep talk with your child to boost their confidence
• Focus more on the process of taking tests, less on the results
• Remind your child to pace themselves during the test
• Eat a good breakfast
• Get plenty of rest
• Dress in layers to ensure your child is not too hot or cold
• Come to school on time
• Check in with your child when you see them afterschool
• Celebrate that their test is completed!
