2023 Superintendent’s Stampede
Each year, the Spring ISD family supports the Tri-Club Show, which features the year-long efforts of Spring ISD students who are involved in FFA (Future Farmers of America), FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), and Spring 4-H (Head, Heart, Hands, Health). This year’s event will be held April 13-15 at the Nagy Pavilion (24037 West Hardy Road, Spring, Texas 77373).
The highlight of the three-day event is the Buyer’s Luncheon and Live Auction that will be held Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m. The Superintendent’s Stampede Buyers Group was formed in 2007 in an effort to purchase livestock exhibited at the show in order to donate the processed meat to our local ministries. This year, our goal is to raise $25,000 for this worthy cause. Campus and department goals are listed below.
Elementary School – $450
Middle School – $500
High School – $600
Central Office Department – $500
Though we donate from the heart, there are great incentives to participate and support our students. Dr. Hinojosa will:
Cover lunch duty for the first campus that meets their goal
Substitute two class periods for the campus that exceeds their goal
Cover morning or afternoon bus duty for the campus that raises the most funds
Approve a two-hour ice storm for the central office department that raises the most funds
All donations must be submitted by Monday, April 10 to Toni Carlos in the Financial Services Department. You can also donate online at www.SpringISD.org/Stampede.
Spring ISD Board of Trustees Approves 2023-24 Instructional Calendar
Spring ISD Board of Trustees approved a 2023-24 Instructional Calendar at its regular meeting Tuesday night. The approved calendar — Option A — will have students starting classes on Aug. 10, 2023, and finishing school on May 31, 2024.
The approved calendar was one of two options presented to staff and the community for input in a survey that drew feedback from more than 7,500 people — a 146% increase in participation in comparison to last year. Both options were similar except for the start and end dates to the school year and a new weeklong district Fall Break.
Specifically, under the approved calendar, the Winter Break will begin for students after an early release half-day of instruction on Dec. 15 and end with them returning to school on Thursday, Jan. 4. Spring break will start on March 11, with classes resuming on Monday, March 18.
Both calendar options prioritized maximizing student instruction — including two additional early release days on Dec. 14 and May 30 for high school students only, to support final exams. Throughout the year, students will have no classes on Nov. 6-7 and Feb.15-16 to allow full days for both teacher professional development and parent conferences in the district.
The Spring ISD Advisory Committee on Education (ACE), which includes staff and teachers, offered input and guidance before the two calendar proposals were presented to the public in the community survey. Both options met all state requirements for instructional time, including 174 days with 440 instructional daily minutes to build in make-up days if necessary.
The 2023-24 Instructional Calendar, as well as the current school year’s calendar, are located at www.springisd.org/calendars.
Note from the Nurse
Parents, please remember no medication should be sent to school with a child. If a scholar needs medicine after leaving home for the day, this medication needs to be dropped off and signed in to the nurse.
Thanks,
Nurse Derrick
Updated COVID-19 Guidance for 2022-23 School Year
As we begin the new school year, we wanted to provide you with updated protocols related to the reporting of positive COVID-19 cases as a result of recent changes in guidance from the CDC. Spring ISD is not under a mask mandate this school year, but masks are allowed and discretionary based on student and staff health needs.
Within the linked document provided in this email, you will find information related to both student and staff reporting procedures and quarantine protocols.
Please review the complete document linked here for students and here for staff members, which both contain a link to the COVID Positive Test Form that will need to be completed for any student or staff member who reports positive test results.

Knowing when and where your child gets on and off the bus gives the parent added peace of mind.
