Grade 11 PSAT
Salem High School is excited to provide an in school opportunity for all 11th grade students to participate in the PSATs OCTOBER 24, 2024.
The PSAT/NMSQT takes 2 hours and 14 minutes and consists of 2 sections: (1) the Reading and Writing Section, and (2) the Math Section. Most of the questions are multiple choice, though some math questions ask you to write in the answer rather than select it.
The following table shows how much time you get for each section and the number of questions for each test:

Salem High School College and Career Counseling Field Trip to NEACAC
College Fair Sep 30, 2024
The College and Career Counseling Department will be hosting a field trip for all juniors and seniors to attend the NEACAC College Fair from 9-12 on Salem State’s Campus to learn about over 80 Colleges across the country.
Any senior that would like to opt out of this field trip will have the opportunity during crew this Friday.

Logistics:
Students will begin to be called from class starting at 8:45am to attend the College Fair at Salem State University.
Students will return Salem High School starting at 12:15 at which time they will have a 30 minute lunch. Following lunch students will attend class.
Breakfast is served at Salem High School from 7:15 - 7:45 each morning in the 1st Floor Cafeteria.
Salem High School Dinner
Exciting News! Salem High School students now have the opportunity to stay for dinner any day after school! Dinner will be served in the SHS first-floor cafeteria from 3:05 PM - 4:35 PM starting this coming Monday 12/11. These meals are FREE for all students.
Calling Students in Grades 9 -12
Climate Resilient Schools Coalition are looking for students grade 9-12. Those who are accepted will receive a $1000 stipend upon completion of the program.

The Black Cat is open for lunch and providing our culinary program a creative outlet. On last week's menu was a variety of creative meals including Shepherd's Pie constructed in a potato, spiced apple cider, and so much more.

FAFSA Support
The U.S. Education Department (USED) has announced that the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be launched through a new process. Starting on Tuesday, October 1, USED will release the 2025-26 FAFSA form for testing with a limited set of students and institutions. The department will make the application available to all students on or before Sunday, December 1. This process will allow USED to test and resolve issues before making the form available to all students and contributors.
Massachusetts students can find information about college financial aid on this shared web site and through the Department of Higher Education’s Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Salem High School Counselors will continue to work with our community partners to provide continual support around the financial aid process as the year progresses including workshops, one-on-one support in person and virtually, and student lesson planning.

Johson and Wales Providence is best known for its robust culinary program that touts alumni the likes of Aaron Sanchez, Graham Elliott, and Fall River’s own Emril Lagasse who graduated from a CTE culinary high school program prior to enrolling at Johnson and Wales Providence.
While the university’s culinary program is exceptional, the university has much to offer including accelerated programs in psychology/counseling, law, data analytics, and information technology/security.
