Our Wonderful Interns from UNCW
We are fortunate to have four fantastic teacher interns from UNCW this semester. From left to right: Mrs. Carlson (first grade with Mrs. Samuel), Ms. Ellis (Kindergarten with Ms. Davis), Mrs. Christy (first grade with Ms. Johnson), Ms. Lewis (second grade with Ms. Melendez). These ladies are doing a terrific job and we are so glad to have them at SWE!
Morning Drop Off
OCS policy is that you are not able to line up in the carline (am or pm) more than 30 minutes prior, so not before 7:40 in the morning, or before 3:00 in the afternoon. This is solely for safety reasons and your cooperation is appreciated.
DISMISSAL
Car riders are dismissed at 3:30 and will dismiss in the same line as morning drop-off.
For all grades, please make sure your car tag is visible and plan for students to enter the vehicle on the passenger side. YOU MUST DISPLAY YOUR CAR TAG. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PULL OVER SO STAFF CAN CHECK YOUR ID AND CALL THE OFFICE TO VERIFY THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO PICK UP THE STUDENT.
*Early checkouts are not permitted after 3:00 pm at anytime throughout the year. At this time students are preparing for dismissal. Any transportation changes must be submitted no later than 2:30 each day.

FREE Tutoring Online
Our 3rd-5th graders attended a presentation from Tutor.com last week and received a login for Free Online Tutoring. This service is also free for any Military students! Check it out if your student needs a little assistance with their homework!
Our September and October Energy Bus Focus : Create a Positive Vision!
Don't forget to write your student's name in their bookbag and lunch box!
Dress Code for Students and Visitors
It is expected that students and all school visitors will be dressed and groomed appropriately. If students are not following the dress code the parent will be called to bring a change of clothes. If visitors are not dressed appropriately for a school setting, we will help you at the door as soon as we can, but you will not be permitted to enter the building. Dress code guidelines are as follows:
1. Hats and hoods are not to be worn in the building.
2. Shorts, skirts, dresses and skorts must be appropriate length (Fingertip length is a good rule of thumb).
3. If leggings are worn then tunic length shirts or appropriate length skirt/dresses should also be worn over the leggings.
4. Shirts must extend past the waist of the pants to avoid display of midriff even when arms are raised. Crop tops are not permitted.
5. Clothing that encourages the use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs, or clothing that contains the use of profanity or inappropriate slang/pictures, including weapons, is not permitted.
6. Students should wear shoes that are appropriate for daily recess and physical education activities. Sandals and dress shoes should have heel straps to avoid injury (No flip-flops). Tennis shoes are recommended for daily wear.
7. Pajamas, including pajama pants, are not to be worn to school unless there is a special incentive day.
