Mustang News - April 19, 2024
From The Principal
Thank you to our students, staff, and community for your partnership in PSAT/SAT this Wednesday. We appreciate everyone’s determination!
Also, our Food Drive Week led by Key Club was a great success. A big congratulations to our Key Club for not only raising significant funds and food to donate, but also bringing our community together through spirit days and events, including our MSSD14 Staff Basketball Team dominating against the CSCS Staff Team!
Next week, we are looking forward to our Environmental Club coordinating Earth Week with a volunteer project at Flying Pig Farm, spirit days, tie-dye, etc. culminating in an Environmental Fair & BBQ for students on Thursday during lunch! Please remember that Friday, 4/26, there is no school for students since staff have a work day then in the evening we have Prom from 7-10 pm.
The week of May 6-10, we will be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week. Please consider signing up to bring sides for our Teacher Appreciation Pizza Party sponsored by PAC on May 9th.
Have an awesome weekend, and I hope to see many of you at the play tonight at 7 pm or tomorrow at 2 pm at the District Auditorium!

From The English Department
Mr. Walker's Mythology class teamed up with Ms. Gocisnki, the art teacher, to chalk out their own labyrinth. They just did a mini unit on the social utility of the symbol of the labyrinth, and studied the myth of the Cretan Minotaur, and the movie "The Labyrinth." After this, they learned about labyrinths as a metaphor for the interior journey and the search for self-knowledge.

A Word From The Counselors
Counselors finalized 11th grade Naviance (ICAP) lessons with Juniors this week. Over the last 2 weeks we worked with 11th graders to get them logged into their Naviance portal. They then updated their post-secondary goals and took a Career Cluster Inventory which helped to identify interests and discover career clusters that contain careers that might be of interest to them. Students favorited their top clusters and were encouraged to explore possible career matches. We encourage you to ask your students about this and have them share their results with you; they can access this via www.student.naviance.com. Students were also reminded of graduation requirements below:
