APRIL EDITION
Hello Families,
April is here, and with it comes sunshine, blooming flowers, and the joy of spring! Our students are loving the chance to enjoy the beautiful weather with extra time outdoors—whether it's learning under the sun or playing at recess with friends.
This month is packed with exciting events and opportunities to come together as a school community. We’ll be celebrating National Library Week, cheering on our incredible athletes at the Special Olympics Track Meet, and sharing laughter and fun at our Father/Son Nerf Battle Night. Of course, the egg hunts and other springtime celebrations will bring lots of smiles too!
April also marks the beginning of State Testing for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. We are proud of all the hard work they’ve put in and know they will do their best.
And let’s not forget—the highlight of the month is our Annual Fun Run! It's always a favorite event, and we can’t wait to see everyone out there running, cheering, and celebrating together.
We’re so excited for another month of learning, laughter, and lasting memories with your children. Here's to a wonderful April full of growth and fun!
With appreciation,
Dedra Adams and Katie Vaughan

Adkins Awards
Dear Families,
As we continue to nurture not only academic growth but also strong character in our students, we are excited to announce that our next core value focus is Compassion. Compassion means caring about and helping others while treating them with kindness and respect.
Throughout April and into May, we will be teaching, practicing, and recognizing acts of compassion in our school community. Students who consistently show this core value will be honored during our next award ceremony in May.
We invite you to partner with us by discussing, modeling, and practicing compassion at home. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness, helping a friend in need, or showing empathy during tough moments, your support in reinforcing this value makes a big difference.
Thank you for being an important part of our school family and for helping us grow compassionate, kind-hearted students.
.
Coming Soon!
Adkins College & Career Day is on May 16th from 8 AM to 11 AM. We would love for you to join us and share information about your career. Each session will last twenty minutes, with a five-minute break between sessions.
In our Guidance lessons for pre-K-5th grade, we're excited to dive into the theme of personal responsibility! Our students are learning how to manage their time, complete assignments, and work together respectfully with their classmates. This critical skill isn't just for school; it also carries over to home life! They cultivate a sense of reliability by practicing organization and helping with family tasks. Plus, spending time in nature helps them connect with their environment and understand their impact on the world.
Here are some fun ideas to help practice personal responsibility at home:
1. Responsibility Chart: Create a colorful chart where kids can earn stickers or points for completing tasks like homework or helping. This makes accountability fun!
2. "I Can" Statements: Encourage your child to set personal goals using "I Can" statements, like "I can remember my homework." They can track their progress, which is super motivating!
3. Students can draw a picture or write about their responsibilities at home. During our weekly guidance session, we would love to celebrate their contributions by sharing their writing or drawings with the class.
