Students will not carry their backpacks on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, May 20-22, 2024. Students may only bring their iPad and a pen/pencil. Cell phones may remain in a student’s pocket or small purse. Other electronic items should not be brought to school. Any other non-school related items brought to school will be taken, labeled, and kept in the team room. Only small purses needed for personal items will be allowed to stay with students. Lunches and small purses will be checked for content. The school administration has the final discretion to determine what is considered an acceptable purse for the last three days of school.

NJHS and Student Council teamed up to gather donations and create bags full of necessities and things middle school kids enjoy to give to other middle schoolers affected by the tornado. It was a huge success! They made 279 bags. Thank you for your donations!

Five eighth graders had a unique opportunity to visit the Samuel Bak Art and Learning Center last week. Samuel Bak is an artist who survived the Holocaust and donated hundreds of his pieces to the University of Nebraska at Omaha. It was a great day of learning and creativity.

Students participating in our ESL program were invited to visit the UNO Planetarium on May 15. They enjoyed learning about the phases of the moon, the constellations, and eclipses.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

One of our favorite traditions at Buffett Middle School is Fun Plex Day on the last day of school (May 22). Permissions slips were sent out in Social Studies classes and will be due no later than Friday 17 May to your student's Social Studies teacher (Moyer or Daugherty). We are asking for $20 per student and that covers bus transportation and 3 hours of unlimited rides and activities at Fun Plex. Please send questions to Ms. Moyer, Mr. Daugherty, or Ms. Janata.
