December 2024
Message From the Principal
As the year winds down and we prepare to enjoy the holiday season, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we’ve accomplished together in 2024. This year we improved our letter grade, increased PTO participation, chartered a student council, grew our ambassador program, started a flag football and basketball team, established new community partners, deepened out magnet program and so much more! Our administrators, teachers, staff and parent volunteers have been working tirelessly to fuel the school with creativity and learning. Watching our students discover their potential and celebrate their successes in the classroom and beyond has been nothing short of inspiring.
I am incredibly grateful for the partnership we share with each of you. Your support, encouragement, and involvement make a world of difference in our school community. Whether you’ve volunteered, attended events, helped with homework, or passionately cheered your children on, please know how much we value and appreciate you.
As we approach Winter Break, I encourage you to take time to rest and enjoy quality moments with your family. I also invite you to join us in fostering a love of reading. Curling up with a good book is not only a wonderful way to spend time together but also keeps our students’ minds engaged over the break. Whether it’s a favorite story, a family read-aloud, or exploring something new, reading is a gift that lasts a lifetime.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited about the opportunities and milestones awaiting us. Together, we will continue to nurture our students’ growth and create a supportive and vibrant learning environment.
Thank you for all that you do to make our school community so special. Wishing you and your loved ones a season filled with warmth, joy, and cherished memories.
Happy holidays and Happy New Year,
Shakenya Humphries-Gholson, M. Ed.

Mentoring Tucson's Kids
Did you know youth with a mentor are more likely to have a strong sense of self, volunteer with their community, and hold leadership positions? MTK is a faith-based mentoring organization for youth ages 6 - 17 and they are coming to Holladay.
