Math Corps Camp for 6th Graders July 8 - Aug 1st

Closely following the educational and mentoring practices of the Math Corps, a program that started “as a humanitarian effort to simply help some kids in need”, in 1992 at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI, the St. Paul Math Corps at Macalester College is launching in 2024 with its inaugural Summer Camp! The Math Corps is about more than math skills: we prioritize mentorship through a “kids teaching kids” model, provide a positive learning environment and a strong sense of family.

Parent/guardian AND a licensed health care professional must provide written permission for school personnel to administer medications(s) every school year. Please complete this form for Physician Order/Authorization and Parent/Guardian Request for Administration of Medication by School Personnel OR Authorization for Self-Carry/Self-Administration. This form MUST be completed for both prescription and over-the-counter medications. All medication given to LJA must be in its original container. This includes items like cough drops, aspirin, vitamins and any other items that have medicinal value.

LJA’s school day is from 8:30 am - 2:50 pm. School bus routes are based on these times. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:15 am and picked up as late as 3:10 pm.

For families who need to pick up later than 3:10, you can sign your student up for after school care, which will consist of supervised homework time from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Students must be picked up by 4:00. After school care will be offered daily for a fee of $10.00 per day, per student. There is no bussing available for the after school care program. Students who are still waiting for pickup after 3:10 on any given day will be required to attend after school care, and their family will be asked to pay the fee.

To sign your student up for after school care, complete the After School Registration Form! If needs change throughout the school year, please contact Lyssa in LJA’s office.

UPDATE YOUR FAMILIES INFORMATION

We will continue using JMC for our online parent portal. The link to the portal is located on our website under the Parents and Caregivers tab at the bottom of the home page.

The portal allows you to view your student’s attendance record, and parents will be able to make payments online for any school fees (field trips, etc.) through the JMC Parent Portal. You are also able to update your contact information all in one place. Passwords can be obtained by contacting the office.

We are an LGBTQ-friendly middle school and support cultural diversity and inclusion in all aspects of school life. If you wish to formally request a preferred name change or gender change, please complete and submit this form.

The GSA is collecting book donations to make Pride sections in the LASS libraries! If you have LGBTQ+ books for donation, send them with your scholar to give to their advisor or drop off at the social work office. Scholars have asked their classmates to share their favorite LGBTQ+ books and compiled a "wish list" of books based on those recommendations, which you can check out here: LASS Libraries Pride Section Wish List
