Skills USA Regional Leadership and Skills Conference
Rowland High School is proud to share the outstanding results from this year's Skills USA Regional Leadership and Skills Conference. Our students have once again demonstrated the exceptional level of skill training available at our school, with 24 out of 100 participants qualifying for the state competition. This accomplishment underscores the effectiveness of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways Programs.
In notable achievements, Demitrius Cervantes, Kai Pablo, and Valeria Vazquez won gold medals in Crime Scene Investigation. Our Mobile Robotics Technology teams also excelled, with Team Bravo (Eason Liu and Anthony Tan) securing gold and Team Alpha (Adam Ellis and Wan Ling Lin) earning bronze. Jake Swanson triumphed in the newly introduced Motorcycle Service Technology Event, securing a gold medal, while Samuel Jeong took home a bronze in the same category. Our Computer Programming team, comprising Carolyn Chung and Christopher Hernandez, tied for a bronze medal. Additionally, Ruby Wu won silver in Architectural Drafting, continuing her success from the previous year.
These regional accomplishments reflect not only the dedication and hard work of our students but also the quality mentorship they receive from their advisors. At Rowland High School, we are committed to creating an environment that promotes innovation, creativity, and practical skill development, preparing our students for future success.
We congratulate all participants and medal winners for their impressive achievements and extend our best wishes to those advancing to the state competition. Rowland High School is dedicated to maintaining a standard of excellence in education, enabling our students to reach their highest potential.
ProStart Competition Results
Rowland’s team participated in the Restaurant Management event at the 2024 ProStart Cup. This year’s team members included Gianna Cruz (11th Grade), Sofia Gonzalez (11th Grade), Anthony Negrete (12th Grade), and Paula Ramirez (9th Grade) who finished in the top 5 schools in the state. The students created a full business plan and pitched their restaurant concept to 15 industry leaders. The judges were impressed with Film Foods, the team's restaurant concept of bringing food from films and shows to life. The restaurant slogan was, "Crave at first sight, love at first bite!" Their excellent conceptual knowledge, critical thinking, and presentation skills earned the students $4,000 in scholarship money for college.
Merlina Aparicio, an 11th grader, went to represent Rowland High School in the solo culinary competition. Merlina competed in the Loaded Idaho Baked Potato segment, creating an Indian-inspired, butter chicken-stuffed potato. Merlina finished in the top third of the competition from all over California! We are so proud of how well she represented Rowland while she displayed amazing culinary skills, flavor profile knowledge, and sportsmanship! At the end of the two-day competition, Merlina was awarded a prize for her exceptional participation in the college and career fair by visiting over two dozen booths.
Congratulations to all the participants for their hard work! Thank you to Mr. Roach and Ms. Stella for preparing the students for competition success and securing collegiate funding for a bright future!

Interact Club @ Brea 8K
On Sunday, 2/25, Rowland's Interact members met with Diamond Bar and Walnut Interact Clubs to volunteer for the Annual Brea 8K Classic by Brea Mall. We had a great time cheering on runners and managing the crowd. Rowland's very own Mr. Molla, Mr. Cooper, and Mrs. Co were in the race, along with many Rowland students and alumni.
