Author Landra Jennings visited interested J-E-T students in January. She spoke of the importance of reading and writing while describing her authorship journey. She also offered students a Fairy House Contest related to her novel Wand. The Whispering Fog is her first published book. It was awarded a South Carolina Junior Book Award and made it on this year's Battle of the Books list. We were pleased to learn from her!

Students who demonstrate readiness will be reading the timeless story, Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls in class. Way to go 6th grade! J-E-T readers are leaders!

Students in Mrs. Tomkinson's 8th grade science class took notes about animal behaviors that enhance the probability of successful animal reproduction, learning by visiting different stations set up around the classroom.

It is important for students to handle their Chromebooks responsibly. Some frequent reasons for repair charges on students' accounts include: closing another student's hand in the device, dropping a Chromebook, carrying it in a full bookbag that causes too much pressure on the device, playing games (the keyboards are built for academics, not the impact gaming places on them), losing a charging cord, and losing a Chromebook. These charges range from $25 to $340 and follow a student through high school until they are paid. Remind your child to treat Chromebooks responsibly.
