Lost & Found Sweaters & Jackets
With the warm weather, students will be using less and less of their winter wear. We have over 100 pieces of jackets, coats, sweaters, and hoodies in the Lost and Found. We will be displaying all these items along the dismissal fence at the afternoon dismissal this week. Please stop by in case you are looking for your child's items. Any items not picked up by Friday will be donated.

Donations of Candy Needed: Student Easter Egg Hunt - Thursday, April 10
We’re excited to host our annual Easter Egg Hunt for all students this year. We will be holding the egg hunt for all our students, from our youngest coyotes in PK to our "grown" up coyotes in 8th grade.- All our students will be participating.
We received a very generous donation of plastic Easter eggs this past week and are kindly requesting donations of candy to fill them. We have both small and medium size eggs and any candy to fill them would be of great help. If you're able to contribute, please send your donations to your child's teacher by April 4.
2025-2026 New & Returning Student Registration Open for All PK-12 Grade Students
We are excited to announce that our student registration for all students for the 2025-2026 school year opens, April 1st. You can register your child online by visiting the district website or stop by this year's annual face to face registration being held, Saturday, April 5 from 9:00-12:00. Check out the link & flyer below for more information.
All returning students must register to ensure space for the 2025-2026 school year. Prizes will be available for students and classrooms that register by April 20.
STAAR Testing for all 3rd-8th Grade Students
STAAR testing is approaching in just a few weeks, and our students and teachers have been putting in great effort to ensure everyone makes progress. Please be sure to note the upcoming STAAR test dates. It is important for all students to be present on campus for daily instruction.
On STAAR testing days, we kindly ask that you refrain from scheduling appointments or events to ensure all our Coyotes are here and fully prepared to do their best. Tornillo PK-8 will be a closed campus on these days, and early student pick-ups will not be permitted for students who are still testing.
Student Attendance - Student Absences, Tardies, and Early Pick-Up
As you know, every day of instruction is vital to your child’s academic success, and missing school, even for short periods, can have a significant impact on their learning.
We understand that there may be times when your child needs to be absent, but we ask for your support in ensuring they attend school everyday. The more consistent their attendance, the more your child learns & grows.
Texas law also requires student to be in attendance 90% of the time regardless if the absence is excused or unexcused. Students who are below 90% attendance will be required to make up time. A formal meeting will be set up between the attendance administrator, parent, and student to set up an Attendance Plan.
When a student has 10 unexcused absences, our campus will begin the process for truancy court as required by Texas law.
