Patterson Panthers Update Feb. 12

Hello Panthers,

We are quickly approaching the 3rd and final trimester. Time is flying by! February is a short month but packed with so many things! This month, your children will likely be learning about noteable Black Americans during Black History Month, kindness and friendship around Valentine's day, Presidents now and from our past and so much more! We are also entering the testing season. We are already starting to test our Multi Lingual Learners with the ELPAC test and will begin testing 3-6th graders with the SBAC test in the next few months.

A big THANK YOU to all of our hardworking parent, student and teacher leaders on campus! We have had Spelling Bee, Happy Birds, Student Council action on menu reform, Science Fair, Community Service Club pet drive, Dance offs and Field Trips! Our campus leaders are making each and everyday extra special for our entire community!

Join Ms. Dil for coffee, tea and some treats as we explore how kids learn through play. There will be a 15 minute presentation followed by Q&A and a social networking. 2/21 at 8:35 in the Gym at Patterson.

Dear families,

The school sites in the American attendance area have been informed by the District that they are moving forward with the planned middle school transition for the 2023-2024 school year. This year’s 5th grade students will be moving to Thornton Middle School for 6th grade. More information will be shared later with families as it becomes available.

Middle School FAQs

1. Goal of the Fundraiser : To support Teacher Reimbursements and Chromebook purchase for the students

2. Target for fundraiser goal : $30,000

3. Duration of the fundraiser and dates : 2 Weeks, Tuesday, 21st Feb to Tuesday, 7th March

Please watch for a “FALL 2023-2024 Reservation/Registration Form” to be mailed home soon for each student currently enrolled in TK – 6 th grades. The form will not be handed out to parents and serves 2 purposes: it reserves a spot for your child next year at Patterson and also fulfills the District’s mandated annual residency verification via USPS. Please don’t mistake the letter for junk mail and toss it out!

For students who will be moving on to Middle School next year, Patterson will collect the form and proofs and communicate with the Thornton Middle School to confirm a space will be reserved for next year. By submitting the required form and Residency Proofs by February 24th, your child will be reserved a space for next year.

*The forms must be returned to the school that your student currently is attending; if you have a student overloaded to another elementary school, please return it there.

4th-6th graders can compete. 3rd graders may be selected to practice with the team and attend games in support for experience. All Patterson home games will be played on the field at Cabrillo Elementary! Big thanks to principal David Thornley at Cabrillo for offering to share with us!

Thank you Abeer Bajpai and his fellow Eagle Scouts for building our beautiful planter boxes! We would also like to thank Reagan Nursery for donating an Apple Tree to our school garden!

Help the students of our community service club to collect pet supplies to support local animals in need! Donate by sending supplies now through the 17th to our donation box by the front office!

We will be displaying the 5th grade Science Fair winners' projects at the city's STEAM event on March 29th 4-8pm. Read this flyer for more information.
