Lincoln Elementary: One School, One Family
Thank you!
Dear Families,
Thank you for an incredible first two days ! From our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. Your enthusiasm and commitment have made this start to the year truly special.
Watching our students step into the school with bright smiles and eager minds has been a joy. Our staff has worked tirelessly to create a welcoming and nurturing environment, and I am so proud of the community we are building together. The energy, kindness, and cooperation I've seen in these first days are a testament to the strength and unity of our school.
Together, we are "One School, One Family." As we move forward, let’s continue to support one another and strive to make this year one filled with growth, learning, and joy for our children.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. I am excited about all the wonderful things we will achieve together this year.
Thank you,
Claire Giardino, Principal

Meet Our School Counselors!
Dear Lincoln Elementary Families,
As we embark on another exciting school year, we are thrilled to announce we will have two full-time school counselors, Mr. Rediger and Mrs. Hayhurst! We are here to support our students' social, emotional, and academic growth throughout the year.
Mr. Rediger works with our learners in grades K, 2, and 4. He can be reached at redigern@gjps.org or (614) 643-0817.
Mrs. Hayhurst serves our students in grades 1, 3, and 5. She can be reached at hayhurstj@gjps.org or (614) 643-0793.
Together, we are focused on creating a safe space for our students to explore their feelings, build friendships, and navigate their educational journey. Throughout the year, we will be updating you on what we are teaching in our monthly lessons and the groups we will be offering.
Join Our New Student Counselor Camp!

New Reading/Writing and Math Curriculum
We are excited to be implementing new Math (Bridges) and Reading/Writing (Wit and Wisdom) Curriculum throughout the district this year in all K-5 classrooms. We will be starting on Monday, Aug 19th with the new curriculum tools.
There will be some changes for our procedures and routines for these new curriculum tools, and we will ease into this with our students.
Below are resources for families for both math (Bridges) and reading/writing (Wit and Wisdom) if you are interested in learning more:
Attendance
Pursuant to House Bill 410, student attendance is now calculated in hours. This includes absences that have been identified as both excused and unexcused by the school, as well as planned absences. Being late or tardy to school does calculate into the total hours absent.
PLANNED ABSENCES (Such as vacation):
The time missed will be counted as an authorized, UNEXCUSED absence but shall not be a factor in determining grades unless the make-up work is not completed. Students who are absent 38 hours in a month or 65 hours in a school year with or without legitimate excuse are now considered Excessively Absent. These students will receive a letter from the District and will be required to follow the District Truancy Plan. These hours include approved planned absences. Planned absences will not be approved if your child has already met or will meet (based on this request) the absence threshold for Excessive Absence and/or Habitual Truancy.
If you have a planned absence, please fill out this form and send it in to the office. For more information or questions, please visit the GJPS website.
