Ross Round Up
Engage. Empower. Educate. Every Day.
February 2, 2024
This month, our school value is Compassion. What a perfect school-wide value for Valentine's month! Our students are learning to work well with each other to increase their learning and their fun at school. We have daily Principal Challenges on the announcements for compassion, teachers talk about compassion in their classes, and students are taking the lead in showing compassion.
- One example: our CAST students planned a walking field trip to Indian Creek to read to Kinder and 1st graders. Kuna Police officers helped our kids get there and back safely--we're grateful for their partnership. It was such a great experience for both the older and younger kids. Check out the video below to see how it went.
- Another example: one student came up to me recently and reported that she was worried about a friend who was struggling. I was able to check in with that student and get some support in place. That's compassion in action to speak up when someone needs help.
- One last one: several 4th grade students want to raise money for families that are in need--they've placed a donation box in the office that visitors can put change or dollars into. In a couple of weeks, that money will be donated to families in need through the Ross Pantry. What amazing hearts our students have.
Speaking of change and dollars, the next two weeks is PTA Penny Wars! Check your couches and cars for change and send it in with your student. See the flier and video below for how Penny Wars work--kids are very excited about the chance to earn lots of points sabotage other classes. All money raised goes towards recess supplies and activities. The winning class gets a Silly String fight with me!
These students make our jobs the best jobs in the world and we love them.
Love,
Principal Tripp

Dress Code
Dress Code Reminders
As part of preparing students for middle school and with the weather warming, we reminded students of our dress code--the same code we've had that we share with the middle schools.
Question Time at Recess
We put up pictures of the dress code and Mrs. Tripp answered student questions or worries out at recess. Our students came with great questions and comments. We work hard to have a safe environment for them to ask and learn.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meeting Thursday from about 5:00-5:30 pm
If you have any questions or comments about dress code or anything else at Ross, feel free to join Mrs. Tripp in the library this Thursday for our PAC meeting. We'd love to have you join us after the PTA meeting!
