Mr. Brandon's 6th grade class spent the last three days at Peterson Bay learning about marine ecosystems from Alaska Coastal Studies. They are pictured here with their pottery mugs that they created, before their trip, to use for fireside cocoa. Thank you Alaska Coastal Studies for another wonderful experience!

Monday, Sept. 23rd, is Talk and Dress-Like-a-Pirate day. Aaaargh. Join the fun!

Mrs. Ashley's class made their way over to Little Tutka Bay on Thursday with Conrad Field to identify various types of crab in the area. A BIG "thank you!" to Coldwater Taxi and the Kilcher family for being their water taxi's for the day!

Please mark your calendar – Picture Day is Tuesday, September 24th. All pictures will be taken in the morning with preschoolers invited to have their picture taken at 10:30 am. Paper order forms are going home today or you can order through the link below with our school code: EVTPXR8C6

All students are invited to make a poster (no bigger than 12” x 18”) to help let people know about our upcoming Fall Carnival. All poster contest entries will receive an immediate prize and a grand prize will be awarded October 4th. As part of the grand prize this year, your poster will be published in the Homer News paper. Posters must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 4th. The poster must have the student’s name, grade, and teacher's name on the back and MUST have an event information label (available in the office) OR you may LEGIBLY write the following on your poster:

We are also collecting new or gently used stuffed animals for the prize stand. You can drop off the stuffed animals in the dragon box in front of the office with Joy.

Welcome back to school! I'm Veronica Jones, your Title I Tutor, and I'm excited to start this new school year with all of you. Our school-wide model ensures that Title I funding and support are accessible to every student, offering essential resources and opportunities for all to thrive. Together, we'll work on building strong foundations in reading and math to help each child reach their full potential. Keep an eye out for a flyer coming home with your child about our upcoming Title I Annual Meeting and Game Night, featuring “Capture the Flag” on September 27th! Stay tuned for more updates on the Title I program in future newsletters, and let's make this year a fantastic one! Go Dragons!

We are thrilled to have our Resident Artist, Sharlene Cline working with our K-6 graders starting Monday, September 30th through October 10th. She is presenting Chinese Brush Painting. The students will explore Chinese brush painting with Chinese black ink and watercolor, signature chops, Mandarin, Chinese art history, culture, and calligraphy.

On Tuesday, October 15th we will have a gallery walk and every class will be participating with work from Chinese Paint Brushing in the gallery. Stay tuned for the time of our gallery walk. Parents and community members are welcome! We hope to see you there!

Parents are invited to join their child and the principal for lunch on Thursday, September 26th at 11:55 am.
