Welcome to the family!
2nd grade
My name is Patty Torres, and I am very excited about the opportunity to join the dedicated team of educators at SMG as the new second-grade teacher! I am originally from Colombia, South America, and had the wonderful experience of being an exchange student in Oklahoma, which sparked my passion for education. I later studied at the University of Texas at Arlington and have dedicated the last 25 years to working in education with AISD.
As a mother of two who currently live in California, my husband and I have been married for 32 years and cherish our Catholic faith, actively participating at Most Blessed Sacrament Church. We enjoy sports, especially tennis, and I am passionate about fitness and nutrition. I’m also a proud dog grandmother and love all dogs, especially our Great Dane and Dalmatian. Truly blessed to be a part of the SMG family!
4/5 English Language Arts and 4th grade Homeroom
Hello Everyone,
My name is Sr. Thi Hoa Phung, and I am a member of the congregation of the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Vinh Diocese in Vietnam. I graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. I am an Elementary Education major with an endorsement in Social Studies. After I finished training in Education degree in the U.S., my General Superior assigned me to work and minister in the Forth Worth Diocese. Thus, I am now staying with some Sisters in the same congregation as me in Arlington, Texas.
I am so grateful and excited to be a part of St. Maria Goretti Catholic School this year.
May God grant you all with many blessings and health.
With Gratitude in Christ,
Sr. Anna Thi Hoa Phung, LHC
School Guardian
Hello. My name is Joe Luna. I am excited to join the SMG school family again! I have been involved with the SMG school and parish for about 30 years. My children attended SMG and I was married at SMG. I was very involved with coaching, Kountry Karnival and other activities. I am a Hospitality Minister and a Team Leader for the Guardian Ministry for the church.
Professionally, I served in law enforcement for about 22 years, attended various firearms and defensive tactics courses and served as firearms and defensive tactics instructor.
I look forward to bringing my training and experience to SMG school and being part of this family again!
SMEED
My name is Taylor Storts and I am very excited to be part of the SMEED team at St. Maria Goretti’s! I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, where I received my Bachelor of Social work. Through my social work internship, I gained invaluable experience working with students and realized how much I enjoyed making a difference in the lives of children. I look forward to working as a team to become a positive influence in the lives of students and helping them to know God in their everyday lives.
