Last Update Until July
It's been a Productive Year!
I am so excited the summer break is finally here. Our staff and students have worked so hard this year. We made a commitment this year to focus on students who have not historically made progress and let our planning start there. In planning for our students who need more support, we are able to plan for multiple levels of instruction. We worked with teachers weekly to ensure all students thrived academically.
Alongside our teachers, our Wellness Team worked with grade levels to support our students social and emotional development. We brought in a school-wide program to help students develop authority and autonomy in relationships through the Healthy Relationships Project. Our 2nd graders had the pleasure of learning empathy and understanding through the Roots of Empathy Program. Mrs. Roman reported that the majority of her students said that was their favorite part of 2nd grade! We also partnered with RestorativeDC to improve our Restorative Justice work to give students skills to solve conflicts and express themselves. We met bi-weekly most months with teachers to increase their understanding of RJ principles to support students in moments of conflict.
We are all working every day to ensure our students have the best experience possible. This is important work. This is the best work. It is an incredible pleasure and honor to work with the students, staff, and caregivers who call Ludlow Taylor their school. We have done incredible work this year and our goal is to continue to improve. We are so excited about next year and we can't wait to hear about your summer! - Principal Miller
