A Note from Mrs Jeffers
This school year is off to an exciting start! Students have started to acclimate to the school building and our beginning of the year classroom routines. As we continue to move throughout the next full month of school, we will continue to add more segments into our day until the full structure of the day is in place. By slowly introducing different components of the day, we have been able to teach our students the procedures or expectations and practice that multiple times before introducing something new. This has helped to decrease frustration and build confidence. Children often thrive on routine in the home setting, so we encourage you to have a before or after school routine as well!
As we continue to get to know your student, we appreciate your collaboration with the school staff. If at any time you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the classroom teacher via email or remind/dojo. Our teaching staff does their very best to respond to questions before or after school or in between preschool sessions. If there is ever an emergency or information that needs an immediate response, please make sure to contact the office and they will relay the message.
Arrival/Dismissal Reminders
We understand that parking is very limited at our current site. We do apologize! We encourage you to utilize street parking on Harrison or Chicago Street when you are dropping off or picking up your child. There are also small parking lots with entry access on both of those streets that you can use. Please do not use the bus lot adjacent to the building!
If you arrive late to drop off or pick up your child and Door 3 is closed without staff present, please walk around (through the bus lot) to the First St. entrance to buzz in at our main preschool office (Door 6).
The bus garage appreciates it when they are contacted if your student is ill and not riding the bus that day, as they can adjust their routes accordingly. Also, please contact the office at 324-3287 or the classroom teacher via Remind/Dojo if your child will not be in attendance. Thank you!
GrandFriends Day: September 9th
Grandparents or a Special Friend(s) are welcome to join their Little Learner on the preschool playground for a popsicle and some fun on September 9th from 4:00-6:00. This is an Open House style event and you can come and go as you please. Access to restrooms will be extremely limited, so please come prepared!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held at Little Learners on September 23rd from 11:30-7:00 pm. Due to the number of students enrolled, the conferences are scheduled in ten minute increments. Conferences can take place in person, via Google Meet or by phone. We value the home/school relationship and want to make conferences as convenient as possible for you! This year parents are asked to schedule the Parent-Teacher Conference online via Skyward.
On Wednesday, September 9th, a tab will show up in your Skyward account that says, "Teacher Conferences." Click on that tab and you will be able to "Select a Time." Once you have selected a time, you can save that slot and an email confirmation will be sent to you. (See this video tutorial of how to schedule the conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fs2WKxHtAfc)
If you have difficulties scheduling a meeting or there are no times available that work for your schedule, please call the office at 324-3287 and we will do the best to assist you or make accommodations.
We also encourage you to browse the student Art Show on the day of the conference. Our students have been working hard on making masterpieces using different modalities and these will be available for purchase via a silent auction.
Vision Screening: September 24th and 25th
Operation Kid Sight is returning to Little Learners this year to complete a vision screening. They utilize instrument based technology to detect any vision problems and the process is completely non-invasive and as simple as 1-2-3! An informational letter and permission slip will be sent home in the days to come. This is a great resource that we can use to help detect any potential vision difficulties in our littlest of learners.
Upcoming Events:
September 2nd: No School, Labor Day
September 9th: Grandfriends Day, Popsicles on the Playground 4:00-6:00pm
September 13th: School Spirit Day
September 23rd: No School, Parent Teacher Conferences/Art Show
September 24/25th: Vision Screening
