This Month's Panther Focus: "Safety"
Hello PV Families,
I hope everyone is looking forward to a well-deserved Spring Break from April 14–18!
This week was filled with exciting moments that brought our school community together. On Wednesday, we held our Girls on the Run practice run. Despite the chilly weather, our girls—alongside their coaches and a cheering squad of parents, staff, and students—showed incredible determination and resilience as they ran through the neighborhood. A huge shoutout and heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Kardos, our program advisor, and our amazing coaches. We’re also grateful to the staff who supported the event by preparing water stations, rallying classroom cheer squads, and helping ensure its success. Thank you for making this such an inspiring and well-rounded experience for our students. Enjoy the pictures below!
On Thursday, we celebrated Poem in Your Pocket Day! Ask your child to share the poem they carried—or a new one they discovered. A friendly reminder: our school-wide Poetry Contest is still open! Submissions are due by April 25, with finalists announced on May 2. Their poems will be featured on our student-created Newspaper Club site. Special thanks to Mr. Francis for organizing this beloved annual tradition.
Spring is blooming at PV, and so are the daffodils planted by Mrs. Federowicz and her second-grade class! Their cheerful blossoms can be seen brightening our school grounds—thank you for bringing a beautiful sign of the season to life. See pics below.
Speaking of blossoming—state testing is just around the corner.
-
Students in Grades 3–5 will take the ELA and Math assessments from April 28–May 9.
-
Grade 5 students will take the NGSS (Science) assessment on May 15 and 16.
These assessments are an opportunity for our students to demonstrate all they’ve learned this year. We kindly ask that you avoid scheduling morning appointments during these dates, as testing will take place in the mornings.
