CMAS
VPE 3-8 Grade students did an incredible job this week with CMAS testing.
As a reminder we will still continue with makeups and Science testing for Grades 5 & 68.
The VPE CMAS testing window for Science is April 15th-16th (grades 5 and 8 only). Please help us with test completion by planning any needed/scheduled student absences/appointments outside of our testing window days. Also, please help us ensure that ALL students arrive to school by 8:20 am.
** Please help your students prepare by having breakfast in the morning ( school breakfast is provided daily), having a great night sleep and ensuring they charge their chromebooks over night**
At VPE we value all the data we receive about our students.
These are just a few of the reasons why we believe participation in evaluation is important:
The various assessments not only provide information about our student needs, and help us make informed decisions about our building supports.
Testing improves our curriculum
It influences our hiring decisions for upcoming school years.
Equity! Standardized assessment helps schools identify gaps and disparities among diverse student populations (i.e., socioeconomic status, race, gender, and abilities) so we can intentionally plan the interventions and resources needed to address inequalities.
Data helps us develop our training and professional development to better support our educational professionals in their abilities to better meet the needs of our students.
VPE 2024 assessment celebrations:
VPE scored in the top 5 for ELA growth in the district and top 11 in Math
Over 95% Participation Rate
Over 6% overall School Performance Gain
Over the next few weeks, you will continue to see messaging about our commitment to successful participation in CMAS this year through our newsletter, parent meetings, and preparation activities that will take place in classrooms. Thank you for your commitment to our school community and the success of our students.
Thank you for your continued support!

8th Grade Continuation
This year we will be celebrating our eighth grade students during our continuation ceremony on May 22th at 9:00am in the Vista PEAK Preparatory Auditorium. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early, the ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 am .
Prior to the celebration, we are inviting each family to share up to three pictures and one sentiment, 25 words or less, about your student to be shared in our end of celebration video.
Submit pictures and sentiments at this Link
We will only be able to have one submission for each student, so please do not submit multiple submissions for one student.
Submissions will be accepted through Friday, May 2nd. Any submissions received after this date will not be part of the presentation.
Each student will have a slide with their name, school photo and any additional photos that are submitted by family and/or staff.
We are excited for the opportunity to acknowledge the incredibly hard work of our eighth graders and celebrate their journey on to high school with them. We look forward to seeing the images and sentiments and celebrating this moment with all of you as well.

If your child has outgrown their VPE t-shirts, consider donating them to the school clinic! We gladly accept gently used shirts to help students in need of a clean change during the school day—whether due to spills, bloody noses, or other mishaps. Your generosity makes a difference!
Spring is here, and the school year is winding down! However, illnesses like Influenza, RSV, COVID, and strep throat are still circulating in the community.
A quick reminder: APS guidelines define a fever as 100.4°F or higher. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
