CES Happenings
Dear CES Family,
A few things to mention this week. First, in the world of youth basketball, CES parents provided an amazing season for so many of our students in grades three through six. There was a lot of success on the hardwood this season. In particular, the 5/6 girls finished the regular season undefeated! So, huge thanks to the all of the coaches (and team sponsors)! They are:
- 3/4 Boys- Michael White, Sponsor: Michael White Construction
- 3/4 Girls- Vanessa Salazar and Jordan Pattatucchi, Sponsor: Pine Shack Frosty
- 5/6 Boys- Seyonna Hedrick and Jacob Hull, Sponsor: Plumas Pines
- 5/6 Girls- Ashley Wade, Sponsor: Mrs. Tantardino
Second, I need to update parents on a significant change in policy regarding parents that drive students on school field trips. Due to changes with our school district's insurance company, there are several resulting changes that have occurred that are effective immediately:
- Parent drivers will need to be fingerprinted prior to transporting students (one time during student's school career).
- Copy of a valid driver's license
- Copy of current auto insurance declaration page (must meet minimum coverage amounts)
- A printout (or send a digital copy) of a current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) dated within the past thirty days (one time per year)
We recognize that this is a lot of change. Thanks so much in advance for adjusting with us as we all get used to doing things differently. I will be setting up several opportunities this Spring to have fingerprinting done at CES for free.
Third, we have a snow day coming! Do I have your attention? Actually, it's a day that has been set aside as a "Built-In Closure Make-Up Day" on the PUSD instructional calendar for this year (click here to access this year's calendar and also the calendars for the 25/26 and 26/27 school years). There are actually three on the calendar this year (also 4/11 and 5/23) To the extent that we don't need to utilize these as make-up days, they become vacation days. By the way, delayed starts to school days do not count against these days, so we are on track to utilize one or more of these days as vacation days, assuming Mother Nature cooperates. Good news, right? Everyone seems to think so.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
